Quest reward swap/reset Issue

Some back story, due to an quest addon which had an auto turn in feature I force insta-picked the wrong reward from the Head of Onyxia quest resulting in receiving the trinket instead of the necklace. I get that blizard isn’t reponsible for addons or the issue that arise due to them, however this is a hard one to move past. I’ve done my research and in the past it was something that they did in a select few cases. I have had a GM confirm so. They are also still currently able to do so technically however due to their policys they do not do so, again confirmed by the GM. I tried to contact the GM to resolve this issue and in the end he confirmed that my only choices are to either suck it up, re roll or quit (his confirmation, my words). I tried to poise the idea of simply taking the item back and having the quest reset so id have to do it all over again. Getting the head and turning it in. I was told that this is essentially the same thing as an item swap in their eyes and there they are able to do so however they wont due to policy again. I’d hoped that I would qualify as one of these select few cases I had researched about in different forums however I was basically told nothing can be done no matter what, unless things change. I don’t think I need to describe how annoying of a mistake this was and how annoying it is to have absolutely no way around it. The only forseeable way it will change is if enough people have experience a similar thing. Resetting quests to me is not a game breaking advantage as long as its done case by case within good reason. This should be especially true for quests that are important to a characters progression, like the Head of Onyxia. Has anyone experience something similar and perhaps been successful in thier attempts to resolve this?

Don’t be mad, on my guild, we have a tank that have choose the trinket instead of the neck ( Onyxia Blood Talisman). Literally pure 0 IQ, can you imagine he was not aware how the neck is way better ? Some players are just clueless as hell, I can imagine how bad they perform in real life, everything they do should be full chaos without any sort of common sense, since they fail to be optimized in a 15 years old game when everything has been already done lol.

First of all LOL! Secondly, I’ve ticketed a GM about getting another quest item and they “couldn’t” do anything to help me.

ye they cant help you, because they dont support this. you just gimped yourself on a nearly bis items that for many last the entire game.

I would understand if I had made the choice but the addon auto selected the first option, I didn’t even have a chance to click. I know how neccesary the neck is hense why I have a problem with their no solutions mind set. I have screens of the whole live chat with the GM. They essential can do it but don’t want to.

It’s not Blizzard’s problem.
You chose to use the add-on, and you instructed the add-on to make the choice. The add-on could have been programmed to force a player pick above a certain reward quality (rare).

If you are nice in your ticket, they are nice, have the tools to help and consider you a valuable customer, they might end up helping you. Otherwise not.

The issue is that helping you might be a precedent and could lead to numerous tickets, while Blizzard has opted over the years to minimize human support (2005 Blizzard would have probably helped). The automated solution would be what you describe, being able to replace a quest reward in a very short window. A second solution would be to cripple this add-on by requiring user clicks and adding a 1-3 second minimum wait window for completing quests.
