Yes, you are “rite”. If you have done it “countless of times before” you wouldn’t have to read the quest, you would know exactly what to do anyway, unless of course, you are useless.
I just set up a few addons and Questie seemed to work fine for me. I got it through the Twitch client, if that helps at all. I could see quest markers on the map (both mini map and expanded map). However, the “show Questie” button on the expanded map was in a weird place and I couldn’t move it.
What I discovered with another addon (Healbot) was that the version I got via Twitch was outdated and didn’t work for paladins. After a bit of searching, I found a newer version on their site, complete with paladin fix, which worked great in-game. So I wonder if the Questie you have is a slightly older version. I’d check out a different website to see if their version works.
I had no problems with addons, apart from Questie not showing certain quest locations in Elwynn Forest but at this point I knew where every quest is already.
Works fine in Westfall too for what i’ve tried so far. Installed today because i see others using it too. Of course it’s insanely overpowered addon and i feel bad about using it, but because it is allowed it is also semi-mandatory to keep up with others now.

Did you extract it into your addon folder or just put the whole zip file in there? And make sure it’s in the classic not retail section of your world of warcraft 
You can also get it via the twitch client, if you’re struggling.
There is nothing to justify, especially not to you. You don’t have to agree, you don’t have to do anything because it doesn’t affect you, and it didn’t affect you back then. You can go and play YOUR OWN GAME however you want, they’ll play theirs.

Works perfectly for me. Just remember to /reload every tine you ding. And sometimes if you hand in several quests at once.
Oh, and ignore the haters, I’m using it and still reading every single quest for nostalgia and immersion. I use it 95% for never missin a hidden quest in some nook and cranny, not for where to solve it.
