Hi All,
Created a Gnome Mage, quested through starter zone, and quests naturally led me to Loch Modan. I completed all of the visible quests in Thelsamar, and any quests visible in the areas, those quests took me. Even saw Stormpike and went to Stormwind with his order.
Then the quests stopped, I couldn’t see any available quests and there were no link quests which ushered me to another region - and I am only level 15 and unsure where to go.
Have I missed something? Is this how Classic worked? I remember playing Wrath and there were always quests, that led me to more quests.

Go to the road south of the lake, north of the hills, there are at least 2 more areas to get quests.
You would probably be best heading back to Stormwind then out into Elwynn Forest, doing the quests there and then going onto Westfall. After that Redridge mountains, and Wetlands are your best bets.
Quests are a bit thinner on the ground, but there are normally enough to do if you are willing to do a couple of extra zones, or grind a few extra mobs.

Hi All,
Thanks for responding. Am I right in saying that classic does not guide you through a zone and onto the next via quest chains? Its a matter of exploring and finding them?

There are quest chains and random encounter quests leading you all across the world, so let that guide you. But since you are in Stormwind, you can just go to the neighboring zone which is to some extent a follow-up to the starting zone. Walk the city and look for some quests…
Just to clarify, I am in Loch Modan atm, at level 15. I went back there as I thought there were more quests but I can’t find any. The quest I handed in at SW did not link into anything else. So I am kinda stuck. There must be something in Loch Modan than links me somewhere else. And Wowhead states you can level up to 20 here, so I must be missing something.

Just completely ignore what I said then, oh you have already.

Sorry Dottie. I did those quests but that wasn’t really what I was asking. I was asking more about how the quests flow into one another. But thank you for your input.

Go Westfall and Redridge and pick up the quest in Thelsamar at lvl 19-20 for Wetlands.
Excuse me, but I don’t get this mentality at all. Have you tried asking this question like… in-game?
Not only it would’ve made your experience more immersive, but would’ve saved you a bunch of time…
Prior to Cataclysm the quests were all more random, there is far less of a linear format to them and while there may be ones that take you from one zone to the next, there is no guarantee. You need to spend a lot more time exploring zones and seeing what people want help with rather than following a set route through everything. It is also possible, if you have concentrated on just the quest objectives, that you have finished a zone long before you are expected to, but there are certainly quests in Loch Modan that you could not do at level 15 unless you managed to get a group to boost you through them, it is possible that there are some that aren’t showing up for you yet.
While I don’t normally endorse it, you might benefit from the Questie Addon at least until you work out more how the questing system works in Classic. I don’t use it myself, but I believe it does let you know where to find quests you could do.

Take the boat from wetlands to darkshore. Plenty of quests there, or grind mobs for 1-2 levels and then go to redridge.
I had the same issue when leveling my dwarf, but I think it’s a problem of Loch Modan specifically. In most zones (at least Alliance side), you are usually sent via quests to another camps and zones, even across the ocean - just as you remember from WotLK. Looking for quests in Loch Modan was difficult and I also had empty quest log around level 15.

You’re right, it’s a bit disjointed here and there. I’m guessing with your example, the idea probably was one would step out of the SW gates and explore Elwynn, and that way quite naturally bump into Westfall and Redridge.
I wanted to level without a quest addon at first but I’m really happy I changed my stance on that later. There are so many quests I’d have missed otherwise and it made finding quests appropriate for my level a great deal easier. Can recommend it

It’s very rare to get lead from one area to the next in Classic, the coddling started in later expansions. You have to actually go looking for quests in Classic.
You asked a question yet appear, in my eyes at least, to like…presume I did not ask in game.
Of course I did! The forums are here to be used, and have longer, in-depth conversations. I don’t get the mentality of people who jump into forum posts, just to complain. Now wasn’t that a pointless waste of your time?
To everyone else, thank you for your input.
Thank you for your response. This is exactly how I am finding it atm. I was concerned I had just not paid attention and missed a key point that would have linked things together, but that is clearly not the case.
I don’t like add-ons myself but I did install Questie just to try and get the ball rolling again. I configured it so that I can’t see quests in map areas I have not explored, and also disabled objective markers. I still want to find my way about but I really was struggling to find quests and felt I was not done with Loch Modan.
Things are moving along nicely now. I may disable Questie now.
Thank you.

Sometimes quests take you to very different places where you can get more quests, but in general old WoW encourages exploration. Some quests are even quite hidden if you don’t know where to look (UBRS and Onyxia key chains for example).

Try the addon “Guidelime”,
it’ll help you find and complete quests a bit easier.
But yes, it will hold your hand all the way to lv 60, so that might be a turnoff.
