Quick question about moving WOW folder

I remember that you could just move the WOW folder in an external disk, and it would play fine from there without doing anything else.
I’m hoping this is still the case.
Is it?

really depends on the disk readspeed.

Yeah OK, but other than that nothing changed, right?

Yeah for sure. You just gotta launch battle-net and WoW will say “install” but don’t freak out just go to the settings thingy and scan for games, so it records the new place you moved it to.

So -->external disk -> new laptop, will be just a folder move, right?

Hmm… think so, yeah. The launcher should take care of whatever other registry things or files that didn’t transfer.

It’s worth trying, even if it doesn’t pan out. Like what’re you gonna do, re-download 80gbs. Haha.

You may notice a slowdown on loading screens, but it should be fine other than that as assets are pre-loaded into memory.

Cut/Copy + Paste the folder to it’s new location, then go into the Battle .net client settings and point it to the new location.

Worst case scenario do a fresh install and move the addons. The game is only like 4.5 gig…

Pretty sure WoW is still completely standalone without any registry keys or anything.
