Quickie: Horde's Reaction to Baine's Escape

the painful cost of blizz having to feed both loyalists + rebels the same story smh

A tribal council could work. Representatives from the major tribes, perhaps with a High Chieftain giving the final say in case of deadlocks, carrying slightly more authority and being the primary figurehead for the Horde?

The Tauren background isn’t meant for living under the rule of one person.

Nathanos: Yes, this task will test your loyality… for now just play along.

I’m more upset about the heritage story. There’s barely anything about the Tauren there. Literally any other tribal race could replace the Tauren and the story wouldn’t change aside from the spiritwalker part.

And don’t get me started on this BALANCE BETWEEN LIGHT AND VOID MUST EXIST crap that’s shown in our faces. Did you really have to push it inside the Tauren storyline Blizz?

player returns to cardboard nathanos to inform about the impending destruction of the banshee queen
Nathanos’s tape recorder: Ah, yes… good to see you are still loyal, but your next will certainly test your loyality, play along for now, we shall get them once they return.

It’s been two hundred years since the fall of Sylvanas, who decided she was just done and retired to a beach condo. Anduin and Baine had their gay wedding. Azeroth has seen no war in centuries

“Play along” Nathanos tells you over the phone, he’s mostly occupied running a real estate agency these days

Good. There’s a chance that nature and the Elements will now finally be back at the heart of the Horde, though it’s regrettable that Baine is the one to lead the revolution.

Magatha hype is overrated, she’s a one dimensional villain who for some reason we constantly let not only escape but give elemental weapons of mass destruction.

Ok but not Hamuul, he might of been the one to suggest inviting the Forsaken originally, but he’s a straight up neutral (even if he did attend the Horde leaders banquet at the start of BfA).

We are not going to revolutionize but revert to previous (thrall’s) horde core values

Baine will be redeemed if BfA ends with him snapping some forsaken over his knee, like that other Bane guy. At least imo.

Very true. It was cool to see him stand up to sylvanas, even if he loves the alliance (god damn stupid)

Maybe instead of Siege of Orgrimmar being the last patch it will be Siege of Thunderbluff where Sylvanas marches on Baine and the rebels.

Maybe you can choose which side of the raid you are fighting on like with the last raid. So loyalists can fight on the attackers side with Sylvanas and Alliance and Rebels on defence.

Would be nice to see the wall they built to stop people getting into Mulgore see some actual use, despite being made of wood and probably just getting immediately burned. Always did quite like the idea of someone trying to siege Thunderbluff, but I suppose Sylvanas’ catapults could hit it from the Barrens.

His way of standing up to her was to meekly mention leaving Saurfang at Lordaeron, do nothing else, then kill a bunch of Forsaken to free one Kul Tiran.

At least his father had the guts to fight Garrosh.

On the bright side, he only killed a few Forsaken. The crew members were all spared.

Only because they quite out of character surrender and give up, so much for undying loyalty to the their queen.

Tbh people give Baine :poop: for that but Thrall literally was buds with Jaina (and still is per 8.2) and actively pursued peace for the entirety of his reign, he even had human spies he hired to better understand the Alliance and how it worked.

I’m willing to admit Baine has been painfully inactive through Legion where he got cut, and 8.0 where he should have had a bigger role where he came off as frustratingly passive, however. With all this focus on him I’m expecting his balls to drop in 8.3 and beyond.

Fear of death does that to the weaker minds.

Yeah and look where it got him.

Saurfang weighed up doing that but decided not to because of the risk of it causing a massive power conflict during a war if he won. And in Baine’s case if he lost his people would be without a leader. And let’s be frank since Sylvanas suddenly gained the ability to fly I doubt he’d win 1v1, loathe I am to admit it.

Starting a fight for power in a duel would risk his people if he lost, and the Horde if he won. If he won he could be accused of being a backstabber even more than he is now. At least this way he had the support of his people, Thrall, Saurfang (who will probably persuade the orcs) and Jaina. He was annoyingly passive in the MoP rebellion but it seems he took notes from Vol’jin.
