Quickie: Horde's Reaction to Baine's Escape

I think it was a pretty big theme but I will also agree that having the extra fluff made it work way better than BfA has

Having the choice betwen (basically) a PVE storyline / PVP one was good for roleplayers

edit: t minus 5 min before hrhmm… ahhh! indeed… the blood pact, you see… posting

What?

MoP was faction war from the start, if anything it got less so over time as it focused on the rebellion.

Actually the ending of Warcraft 3 was sort of Faction war: Admiral Proudmoore vs Thrall’s horde and rexxar, etc. And it was really done well and i LOVED it. If only all faction wars would be like that… Warcraft 3 Horde was the best Horde to be honest, with showing they were right this time, while Admiring the Admiral as a good warrior in the end, and many other things. Warcraft 3’s main focus wasn’t faction war, neither of the versions, but when it had it, it was amazing.

I loved every faction in that game, every Campaign and every Character. If faction war can be like Rexxar campaign in Warcraft 3 (I don’t mean the rexxar in wow), would’ve been awesome…
Just imagine, all was tribal, honor, against a tyrant who had his own reasons and memories. Trolls chanting for ZUL’JIN, orcs for DOOMHAMMER, Tauren for… Earthmother? Tl;dr, Warcraft 3 had partial faction war, and was awesome. I miss it and wish bfa was like it.

Well, they kinda did try that in BfA as well with the Azeroth dying and now Azshara/N’zoth. We’ll see how it goes but at least it’s something.

I guess not, but it was still forgotten about in 2 minutes + only featured in one zone

I got it in my head that you were referencing the guy who mentioned ToT (where it was kind of on the side). You’re right that it was a big part of the rest of the expansion

It really wasn’t, unless you mean the introduction and then the filler content in 5.1?

The Azeroth and Magni storyline might be one of the most boring WoW has ever had, it can’t quite stand up to the great atmosphere and story in Pandaria.

Honestly I love killing quillboar as much as the next person but I think that works because it’s smaller scale or at least more grounded in people’s lives, much like fighting the mantid or mogu in Pandaria.

Fighting Old God #X is just so blegh.

I believe the Zandalari civil war and Kul tiras one was more of that kind. Whole G’huun plot, Coven, Tidesages and Ashvane.

Depends on the presentation, much like the faction war. This we can agree on.

Don’t worry, it’s the last one. So our kind and gentle father N’Zoth will embrace you tightly into oblivion.

It would be nice to see BFA end with us “losing” the battle, that being the battle for Azeroth’s wellbeing, because we were too busy doddering about with our own petty battles for Azeroth.

It’s because we’re all nerds and want to feel superior after years of being shoved in lockers by Chad, Max and Becky.

N’zoth powerfully resurrects all the old gods including Y’Shaarj thanks to Azerite and kicks off black empire expac.

Old Gods for DAYYYYYYYYYYYYYS.

I think it is just that people have gotten so -bored- of the constant “Hurr hurr, We are Evils!” Forsaken schtick, that people just want the Horde back Because you know this won’t change. They’re not going to Kill off Sylvanas, despite her weakness as a character. The Forsaken deserved a better racial leader, Farinell could have been interesting, you know, an actual -Forsaken- character. They’ve made the same mistake RP wise that they did with the Ebon Blade in Legion. They’ve jumped the shark. They could have been clever about this, especially with the Caelia and Fordragon stuff, but no, no, it -all- has to be about Sylvanas raising Undead that she canonically could not. It has to be about her acting like a damned teenager instead of the seasoned tactician and strategist she is supposed to be! It is all about her and her boy-toy, As Legion hadn’t done the damage already by proving that neither achieved their positions through merit, we now have them behaving like this? It is an arrant insult to those playing Horde that we have to put up with this moustache twirling villainry…. Can we not get some decent writing for once?

It is just overly polarised. You play Alliance? You can go with anduin’s view, or Genn’s view, you play Horde, you are forced one way or the other, that’s…not so great…

This is fine.

I would be happy with a third faction being pro-Old God being made too.

Yes please. Now that would be a desperate and tense situation. Great for RP.

The levelling was very much grounded in the personal story of Pandaria and the inhabitants of each zone for the most part (akin to Zandalar/Kul Tiras), but the premise of MoP is very much of the faction war bringing chaos to Pandaria, and you see the faction war having a big impact in pretty much every zone with the exception of Dread Wastes/Townlong which is focused on the mantid vs Shado-pan plotline.

looks at Legion and laughs at your expectations

Again, Legion’s let down was presentation. The writing and idea behind it were great.

But you can only do so much with a game engine that’s pushing 20 years old.

Well, I think they got enough feedback to do this differently. It was well known to them that the players didn’t like casually slapping the Legion left and right and seeing barely any of them on the broken isles despite this being the biggest invasion ever.

They should have done Legion invasions worldwide like the prevent, as well as one the Isles. At least they have more of a presence then.
