Exactly, greater threat is rarely ever done well in WoW especially when they use these huge cosmic entities like Titans or Old Gods, which ultimately end up feeling really small and weak.
If Blizz can do greater threat better as you claim they can equally write a better and more compelling faction war.
That is a limitation of the game engine unfortunately, and Blizzard not managing expectations well enough. Basically buying into their own hype. It’s not so much a writing issue but more presentation.
Yeah they do. They make them bland and samey, because there’s no difference between them and everyone talks to you like you’re Generic Hero instead of part of your specific faction.
All of those patches also had faction conflict, the war was some of the best parts of Wrath, MoP, and Legion likewise.
You know what I mean, WoW and it’s namesake is founded on the Alliance vs Horde narrative, fighting side by side with the Alliance against tentacle monsters is not the sort of war I had in mind.
I think the faction leader of the Horde being bombed by the second in command (?) of the Alliance riding in a state of the art superweapon gunship isn’t very fringe
Perhaps Genn was simply fighting !!fer the True Horde!! at that moment in time
I will concede that’s true in Wrath, but in MoP the faction war was a massive focus, and Genn vs Sylvanas was far more interesting than any of the drivel spewing out of Illidan’s mouth.
It did only come to the front at the end however, which is fine. A patch dedicated to the faction conflict is fine. An entire -expansion- is ludicrous.
