Hello,
When playing WoW Classic (HC) i’m getting random disconnects. It can happen in 1 hour of gameplay or as 10 hours, like said its random.
- Server : Soulseeker
- Location : France
- ISP : Orange (on 2 both locations tested)
I isolated the problem from playing 2 different locations but still on the same PC, the 2 locations were fiber ready and PC wired to the ISP router.
- Location 1 : Random DC
- Location 2 : 0 DC
As I can see, the system isn’t the problem here, so we can exclude my PC configuration / addons installed, because i’m playing well with same PC on location 2.
I did a little troubleshoot of my internet stability to find if the problem was my ISP (location 1).
Using “Colasoft Ping Tool” : Allow to ping to 1.1.1.1 with details (all packets logged, timed), here the result :
- 24 hours ping 1.1.1.1 : no packet loss.
- Ping 1.1.1.1 while having a WoW DC : no packet loss
So I believe the problem is the route that my ISP from location 1 take to connect to the Blizzard servers, so I did the following (from official technical post + reddit sources) :
- PC Drivers checked and up to date
- No proxy enabled on PC
- IP release, renew, flush DNS
- ISP router up to date
- ISP router restarted
- Disabled IPv6 on ISP, PC, and game
- Disabled “Internet optimisation” from game option
- Setting static IPv4 for my PC
I heard using a VPN or change ISP provider might be the solution, but since i’m already sub to WoW and paying for a service to the play game, I assume that will make expensive to only play WoW…
Take note that I have 0 issues on multiplayer game from Steam, problem only occurs on WoW, the only game that I need to sub… feel like alot frustrating, even more on HC realms.
Did all recomendation I could before posting here, wrote all the details to be taken seriously.
Thanks for reading, hope someone have a solution for me.
Best regards
