Ranged Weapons for Rogues?

Hey,

Just wondering, but as a new and inexperienced rogue player, should I be using throwing weapons or swapping it out for a bow/gun/crossbow?

Thanks,

Unless you get a real nice stat-stick bow/gun (and no hunter is needing it if in dungeon), I’d personally stick with thrown weapons, at least while levelling - not least because “Shoot” has a longer cast time than “Throw”, and it always bothers me to no end.

You also need to get ammo for the bow/gun. Agree with Saga unless the stats are great you’re probably better off with a throwing weapon

You’re probably just using it for pulling, not so much damage yeah? It doesnt matter so much.

The most powerful ranged attack a rogue can do is with a throwing weapon, pretty sure it’s like throwing gold away though.

Not that big of a difference while leveling, but as said before, the “cast” time is shorter on thrown. In the end game you just want whatever has the best stats

So since Guns/Bows/Crossbows improve my stats they would be the “better” choice as Throwing weapons only come as white items?

Not sure what people mean by cast time, its mainly for pulling so the fraction longer shouldn’t really impact anything should it?

And as far as ammo goes that not really any different than buying throwing weapons which have an ammo type use counter??

i havent played vanilla or tbc… but in wotlk u could get throwing weapons with stats on them aswell….

and no u only really use it to pull so the cast time doesnt matter at all…

and no it shouldnt be any different u either just buy arrows to ur bow or throwing knifes… and as u are only using it to pull stuff just buy the cheapest ammo for it there will be no situation where the ranged weapon would be ur main dmg ^^

The “cast time” would be from the moment you press the throw/shoot button until the actual bullet goes off. There is the odd occasion where the mobs run away towards another pack of NPCs and you’d rather not pull the rest of them, so you try to snipe your kill down before it pulls, so faster=better

Go for a bow/gun/crossbow that has stats. Damage isnt important since you only use it for pulling. DO NOT need on a ranged weapon over a hunter.

It’s a little more complicated than that. Hunters shouldnt really roll need on a stat stick bow/gun.

You can tell the difference with speed, anything fast is for rogues and warriors

Exactly what I was going to post - ammo for guns/bows takes more space, I don’t like that, nor do I have more space for ammo.

Does ammo take up more slots in my bag?

what?
You buy thrown weapons, a stack of 200 or you buy arrows, a stack of 200. You equip 200 arrows or 200 thrown, its just the same

“Equipped” ammo stays in your inventory.

there is are some agility bows/gun and attack power on them but unless they have stats i dont worry about them
