Rate Expansions

Hi there,

I really want to know how people rate all expansions. For me one is literally the best game ever, while other expansions make me want to set fire to my computer.
Rate the expansions with a score /10 and give me the main reason(s) you gave that specific rating. Here I go.

Vanilla: -
Did not play vanilla, but I heard it was amazing! Too bad I started too late.

The Burning Crusade: 9.5/10
In my opinion one of the best Expansions. Outland, Shattrath City, Black Temple all this was amazing. The storyline with Illidan (cinematic) made me play WOW. Blood elves and Draenei looked cool as new Races.

Wrath of the Lich King: 9/10
One of the best cinematics and the game lived up to the expectations. Naxxramas was amazing. The introduction of Glyphs was cool. Overall the storyline and questing was amazing

Cataclysm: 4/10
For some reason this expansion did not feel like the previous ones. The introduction of RBGs was good though. LFR in my opinion ruined the core of this game. The big change in talent system was something I did not like at all. The zones that completely changed and the new textures made everything look weird. Overall Firelands was not that much fun, same as Dragon Soul.

Mists of Pandaria: 7
Overall this expansion was OK, nothing more. The introduction of Panda’s and goblins was somewhat weird. I still don’t know why. The raids were ok and pvp seemed cool.

Warlords of Draenor: 2/10
Garrisson farmville made me take long breaks. Did not like this expansion at all even though a couple of raids were good. I like the movie though!

Legion: 5/10
Introduction of Artifact weapon was ok. All the farming and grinding was still here from WOD, only different. World questing was the basic. Didn’t play this expansion alot as I did not like the feeling of HAVING to do all the questing and grinding just for flying, let alone gear and artifact power.

BFA: at the start 5/10 ==> now 1/10 max
The storyline is OK, but implementing new zones all the time and squeezing them somewhere in AZEROTH is not the way to go. The endless grind in order to keep people subscribed actually shows the condifence they have in their game and content. I do like mythic+ dungeons though they should introduce them for ALL dungeons and not only BFA ones. Imagine Deadmines Mythic + ==>Super cool!!! Small summary of all the rest:

-RNG
-Azerite traits
-Azerite Essences
-World quests and Rep farm
-Gear grinding
-Daily Uldum/Vale questing
-Daily Uldum/Vale Visions
-Daily Chamber of Heart Visions
-Corruption
-Grinding gear without corruption

Endless grinding feels more like my job than a game.

One more thing, can semeone explain to me why we can only change talents in a city or rested place? What? Why? If I need diff talents in a raid, i need to hs? What is the reason or advantage of this?

Overall I love World Of Warcraft, and as a 28 year old I have been playing it for over 10 years. The only thing I noticed is that there are alot of changes which I don’t like and when I read the forums, alot of people agree. I simply don’t understand why they don’t listen to some feedback of the people buying and paying this monthly so they can have their salary.

I read something of an end game designer who left WOW and got replaced by Ion Hazzikostas and since then his ā€˜ā€˜special idea’s’’ ruined the game. Wow has never had this little subscribers. It’s sad.

I’m curious for your answers, GO !

I dont understand how people can think a dungeon with no mechanics could be interesting in m+ lol

Deadmines Heroic had mechanics in Cataclysm? I don’t know what you’re talking about, these dungeons are golden and will bring back alot of memories, instead of having these useless Timewalking Dungeons instead. make all dungeons available for M+. You don’t understand, that’s clear.

well, maybe its time to revamp old dungeons and give them interesting mechanics. or at least in a mythic version. would sure be interesting though.

I understand just fine and I especially understand that playing those dungeons won’t be enjoyable with the scaling considering how badly tuned they already are lol.

well, everything up to wotlk is a solid 9/10. cataclysm made me quit so 0/10. didnt find mop appealing so cant really comment on it cause i skipped that one too. came back end of wod…cant really say a lot about the gameplay but pathfinder almost made me quit if it wasnt for my bf dragging me through it so… 2 or 3/10 because i liked the zones themes. legion 6/10, bfa 6/10. those last two expansions were enjoyable but still had major flaws.

Do you mean 0/10? The RNG is killing players motivation!

The actual WoW brand ended for me with WotLK. After that it was just a question of keeping it alive and compelling enough to keep people playing. They kinda failed in my eyes; every expansion just got more and more extraneous. But, here I am. It’s called addiction, and as much as they deny it on the slash screens: They count on it.

That’s pretty much, word-for-word my story, too. Although I missed the entirety of MoP due to illness. Lol, someone actually said to me I shouldn’t have a chance at the Challenge-Mode sets, because, and I quote: ā€œIt’s your fault for being ill.ā€ I kid you not! :joy:

TBC - tons of stuff to do. grinding reps for free flasks, farming SWP trash to make gold, ganking people in nagrand, clear gearing path, buying your first flying mount (I spent a lot of time deciding which colour I want) overall tons of stuff to do. My favourite expansion and I cant wait for TBC official blizzard servers. I was a huge casual in vanilla but I loved leveling, mystery, exploring enormous world but TBC was the expansion that made me love the game. 9.5/10 I’d give it 10/10 but if we get better expansion in the future (XD) there’s no room to give better score so I deducted half a point.

WotlK - dual talent specs, introduction of DKs, achievements, ulduar, ICC

I skipped cata and mop and I regret skipping mop. ToT and SoO had to be great raiding tiers.

WoD - BRF is to this day my favourite raid in the game. No tedious grind = alt friendly expansion, CM weapon transmogs. Those polearms are to this day my favourite weapon transmog in the game, I liked every single zone, amazing mounts (voidtalon, BRF mount, HFC mount), top dpsing as arcane mage on both ST/aoe encounters. Prophecy of fear trinket which was so op you had to remove it on mythic gorefiend cause illusions were dying too fast. Amazing trinket I really miss it. Soul Capacitor was also amazing for some classes like enh shaman. I will always remember those two trinkets. Oh CM also came with teleports to dungeons which was a nice addition. I liked garrison. Easy gold, a lot of toys, transmogs and what not. It’s really sad blizzard ruined WoD by not adding 50% of things they have planned for WoD like Shattrath raid, additional island, train which was supposed to be an alternative to flying but they went with a solution that required less effort to implement aka pathfinder. Overall a solid 7/10 for me. I have tons of good memories from wod.

Legion - Tomb of Sargeras was an amazing tier, legendary items were cool, some now unobtainable mage tower appearances were amazing (frost mage staff, fury warrior swords), Argus was okay-ish, chromie scenario was really good imo. Overall a very solid expansion.
edit I completely forgot about artifact weapons. I really really enjoyed them. The feeling of becoming stronger with every relic upgrade/trait made me want to play more and more. 8/10
BFA - clown fiesta. Even if they come up with a decent system like corruption (I like the idea of being stupid strong, one shotting everything as tank with TD etc) obtaining them is tedious and simply stupid. The fact there is no corruption vendor in the game is just idiotic. Rng on top of rng, tedious AP grind, medicore raids (the fact you needed 4 warlocks to down mythic ghuun was incredibly stupid). I have to say that BfA cinematic was amazing. I was so hyped to play this expansion and it came out to be a potato. BfA has to be the biggest wow disappointment I’ve ever experienced. Scratch that. Bfa is the biggest disappointment I’ve ever experienced in my gaming life. It’s really poorly designed. I don’t know how to rate it. At first I wanted to give it 1/10 but there were some things I enjoyed doing with friends like hivemind mount scenario. I think 3.5/10 would be a fair score.

This is pretty much tl;dr version cause its late and I doubt anyone will read it anyway xd

yeah, people really put too much value into their ā€œexclusiveā€ items. everything for the e-peen i suppose.

You will be purged.

I gave WoD 7/10. Blizzard killed that expansion because they LACKED resources or w/e their excuse was at the time.

:fearful:

They lacked time, I think. This was the era of ā€˜one expansion per year’ so it certainly wouldn’t surprise me.

Classic: 3/10. Unless you were raiding or seriously into PvP, life at 60 was near meaningless. It gets a 3 only because I was in a nice PvP group that made the game enjoyable. Still sucked when we got steamrolled by raiders while we were in UBRS blues. Classes were meh, most of them pigeonholed into one role and one spec with little variety.

TBC: 5/10. Raids were decent, but attunements… oh god why. Also fairly bland unless you did raids.

WotLK: 8/10. Enjoyable raids, amazing ganking opportunities at Sons of Hodir. Would be a 6/10, but world pvp at the lake is easily worth two points.

Cata, MoP, WoD, Legion: Dunno, didn’t play them.

BfA: This will be unpopular, but I do like BfA. There’s lots of RNG, true, but there’s plenty of content to do at max level, and I’m ok with the story too. There’s much more quality of life stuff in it than in WotLK and BC. Surprisingly, I also find it more alt friendly too. You can gear up an alt fairly quickly to a reasonable level, even solo (with a bit of pugging)! Back in WotLK and TBC, if you wanted the gear you can get now for an alt with only solo and m+ pugs, you kinda had to be in a guild that pulled your alt through raids. I’ll give it a 8/10.

Well, this will be extremely biased because I have fond memories of playing when I was young.

Vanilla: 8/10 -Mostly for good memories and the friends I made.
TBC: 8/10 -Mostly for good memories and the friends I made.
WotLK: 10/10 -First expansion I raided seriously in, enjoyed it quite a bit.
Cata: 7/10 -Kept up the raiding with a friend I made in vanilla.
MoP: Didn’t play it, was in the military and school after.
WoD: See above.
Legion: 6/10 -Loved the setting and story. Hated the eternal grind.
BfA: 3/10 -Some cool transmogs and made some new friends. Hate the eternal grind and been-there-done-that faction war story.
