Sooooo… Today my friend tell me that his girlfriend and him just got banned.
We have all been playing pretty intensively the last few days trying to get him and his girlfriend up to level 60.
We primarily used a level 60 mage for boosting in dungeons. But as most people know there are now limits for how many dungeons you can do per hour and per day. We actually reached that cap by doing a lot of Stockade instances.
I know 100% that he would never cheat or use any programs, i mean… most of the times the chars was just looting or on /follow mode. Yet blizzard bans the both for Exploitative activity and for using cheat programs!!! …
Cheat programs is just a straight up manufactured lie.
The “Exploitative activity” seems to be reaching the dungeon limit cap?!
Blizzard also writes to them that the ban cannot be overturn. So they got perma banned.
Anyways take this a heads up. Reaching the dungeon caps can and will most likely get u banned at some point.
Being perma banned for being boosted doesn’t sound very likely considering how many people are being boosted through dungeons now.
If that was truly all they were banned for we’d be seeing a topic like this pop up every 30 seconds…
Either a very unlucky false positive or they were doing something else other than just being boosted.
I think the OP is missing something about his friend. They may not have used a bot but could have used an external macro program to automate some of the boosting.
Honest opinion, they got done for account sharing… if they don’t live together odds are good he probably logged into her account several times to play for her / put her on follow.
Now if he was playing on the account from one IP address and someone tried to log into the account at the same time from a different IP address boom! You just tripped their anticheat system.
however I know 2 irl friends that got banned with reason “use of 3rd party program” they never cheated
& So on first dispute ticket? blizz said they will not un-ban them, on 2nd Ticket Blizzard opened the accounts.
Since that i know for sure that Blizzard can some times ban innocent players! NO idea what could trigger the ban, sometimes if too much activity like "35hours online in game " YES some people can-stay awake for that then sleep a day
@Creptic, if you’re innocent? then keep contacting blizz and they will unban u when they make higher ups check in details regarding your case.
I think you might be right about that, they do play from the same place and some times his girlfriend plays from her own place.
I did make a ticket, trying to get them unbanned. They also made ticket them selfs. But blizzard might ignore those.
But i didn’t get banned tho. it just bugs me to see clean players, playing by the rules get banned.
I doubt blizzard will personally read all the appeals and investigate each one. The US ban wave was like 74.000 bans?
Anyways if they get unbanned i will make an update on this thread.
This wasn’t a banwave, and they do still have Warden running in the background, so the likelier explanation is that either both of them DID use something they didn’t tell you about, or they had something they didn’t know they had that triggered it. Or they have something that isn’t allowed but they don’t know it’s not allowed.
This is fishy.
Blizzard is known for being lazy when it comes to banning people not for many bans all day long. So the chance for this ban to be a mistake is pretty low.
Also being flagged in a dungeon is highly unlikely compared to world questing/farming where everyone nowadays labes you as a bot.
That’s not to say this things don’t happen.
But…
As I know for account sharing you get a warning first and even if you don’t you’ll still get a detailed explanation and usually a temporary ban as this happens quite frequently and Blizzard considers this being most of the time an inocent mistake so the sanctions are mild.
So assuming that’s true, then your friend might’ve used some kinda of macro program or even a some kind of bot for follow and loot. That’s a pretty common situation as well but Blizzard policy here is strict.
“Flagging” is not the only thing that can get you banned. Blizzard got their own anti-cheat software scanning in the background, you know? It’s called Warden.
They don’t update it as much as they should, but it can still dish out automatic bans when something triggers its response.
I didn’t said anywhere that you only get banned by “flagging”. I just said the facts that players won’t report you and obviously the Warden won’t ban you for boosting services.
Hi, I have similar problem to yours, I dual box and one of the two accounts got banned. I did both of the things you mention here(I hit instance cap the day before the ban) and used /follow between the accounts . Hopefully more people like you come forward and blizzard is then forced to look into the issue more closely. So far my tickets have fallen into deaf ears unfortunately.
