This is getting a bit confusing. Wish they would introduce new names for the clusters once they are satisfied with the connections - maybe we can keep the original server name as a family name. I guess they won’t want to deal with the headache of solving realm list and characters though.
The reason for connections is so that people can keep their character and guild names, if it became a new realm they’d be lost as there are bound to be duplicates.
I’m not sure it’s really possible to call the new names or clusters or something.
kazzak+outland=
make it happend, it would be alot of fun
solve all the faction inbalanced servers with merges
Still trying to understand the logic behind the selection criteria for realm merging.
I note that several of the newly joined realms are now showing population ‘full’.
I wonder if they will link Argent Dawn with the lesser RP-servers together at this point…
Even if you disregard the idea of merging different factions, the reason I joined Outland instead of let’s say Silvermoon is because I don’t want an overfilled realm.
Considering Kazzak is already full, no thank you.
Merge Emeriss please, its so dead here
@Ignite: There are multiple reasons so the logic can be hard to find, especially since we do not yet see the intended end pattern.
Actually, most “Full” realms are still either singles or from the old program 1. Current program 2 has mostly created more “High” and “Medium”.
@Shadystev: Emeriss group is “Low”, so it will get connected, we just do not know yet when exactly or to what.
Would be really nice if you did not mess up half the games lockouts when you do this!? maybe Tuesday is better than Thursday?!
Or better yet wait until pre patch hits and people can no longer attain cutting edge.
Kazzak from the info I gathered lately, and please don’t tell me “wow progress, raider io say draenor is higher”, I’m talking about actually logging in the game and checking numbers, is the biggest english realm with a big margin now!
Outland isn’t that big any more though, I wouldn’t rule out a connection between outland and some decent realm, it’s insane how much its population has declined in these years, it barely has 100 guilds!
kk, some other server then kazzak then
i play horde outland and its not much action going on here anymore, most of these weakling on horde side have quit or something, just me and a few others rolling around ganking
i mostly end up in grp with other servers, not that it matters that much with the sharding but still…
would be nice with some more action and like a guild or 2!!
That’s why I added the family name comment. There is technically no reason there can’t be multiple characters with the same name, if you have a new cluster made up of Tarren Mill and Dentarg and have 2 characters named Bob, one just gets a vanity name of Bob of Dentarg and the other one Bob of Tarren Mill. Only need the distiction in game really, for things like whispers etc. Everywhere else the vanity name can be part of the proper name, in the API. Same for guilds. Obviously as time goes on this problem only gets better, as characters migrate / are deleted, etc. Then you can drop the vanity name for unambiguous entities.
Outland is an Alliance realm you won’t change that so easily. If you connect it to a small Horde realm the Horde players will just leave the realm (after complaining Blizzard ruined their realm).
I honestly don’t understand how people play on the opposite faction of the dominant one of their realm, refuse to transfer/switch and just expect some magical solution to their problem will appear one day.
It is called stupidity!
I’d call it hope. And the connections are a great chance for help to get a balanced realm.
Except nobody really cares or wants balanced realms ever since they implemented CRZ. It’s not like the old days where you’d never meet someone from the opposite faction if they never existed on your realm.
Nowadays people would rather have 1 sided realms because it allows a larger community without affecting server issues like queues.
Exactly and with war mode there is 0 like 0 reason to have “balanced” realms.
Horde side Sylvanas will appreciate reinforcement for sure. We revived raiding here this patch and it will be really nice to get extra 1-2 competitive guilds. So ye, we definitely welcome new friends)
Ah, interesting to see some sylvanas horde, quite a rare specimen!
I would say sylvanas horde will get quite a decent increase since auchindoun, while being an ally dominant realm, has some decent horde population, I see on wow progress there are 9 horde guilds on sylvanas and 6 more coming from auchindoun.
I would say that is possible, some people underestimate how much realms like stormscale and outland declined over time, based on the size of some connections blizzard has done recently, I wouldn’t be surprised if you get some medium realm with a more decent horde population, I don’t think people will transfer off and let the horde side die again, cause there are plenty of realms with a 70-30 or 75-25% ratio and the weak side still does stuff, just look at several of the english medium realms, anachronos for example is very ally heavy and has always been like it but still has a relevant % of horde, they don’t all transfer off.
