Realm Layering Update – English

Nope, P2 Was DM AND PvP ranking. They just released DM earlier without pvp ranking. So P2 isn’t here yet

Yes, Blizzard decided to release Dire Maul earlier than planned but Phase 2 is still to come

Able to log in, Yes.
Able to play. Erm not so much. Extreme lag, players everywhere.

No layers should lead to more PvE ( Normal) & RP servers AND more free transfer for PvP. Not just extreme owercrowdednes.

I agree with you there, here on Pyrewood Village no noticeable lag but certainly very busy, they should definitely open a few more PVE and RP Realms, I’m trying to remember Vanilla, I don’t think there were RP Realms, but I am sure there were more PVE Realms than there are now.

Yes there were RP realms. I played on Darkmoon Farie from Vanilla onwards (Still have my old toons there) and it was and is a RP server.

Ah, thank you, I honestly could not remember

Another week has gone by. Of the realms with only one layer, at least Hydraxian is still too crowded to be on one layer only. Zandalar Tribe is still full and layered. And there is still no sign of more RP servers to fix server population and enable RP players to be able to create more than 20 characters or play Horde and Alliance on RP PvP servers since only one of those is available.

Well, to be honest, it seems like we need another RPPVP server.

Yes. I agree. We need more of all servers that are not PvP.

RP is not suited to massive overpopulation, and PvE only moderately so.
If layers have to go (and go they must), we need more of both RP, PR-PvP, and PvE servers to avoid queues or severe overcrovding.

And do we now have more realms without layers?

It’s weird that is the first time I see Ironforge and other capitals packed with people for the FIRST time (Gandling) and I just tried to enter and I have a 10min queue.

I highly suspect that they removed layering for Gandling but is trange the is not announced, right?

According to the reams list Gandling is still layered. Remember that Dire Maul resets today.

But in addition to the original bunch announced Viz:

  • Bloodfang
  • Dragonfang
  • Earthshaker
  • Hydraxian Waterlords
  • Judgement
  • Ten Storms
    also
  • Flamelash
  • Dreadmist
  • Skullflame
  • Stonespine

are now marked either High or Full instead of Layered.

That’s weird! I can really see a big big difference and I haven’t been in queue for months now.
It also offered me a Free transfer… :o

You have practically ruined the social aspect of classic wow blizz by adding layering, cause for one, the starter zones are now dead cause everyone is in different shards/instances of the zones, and no one is around or visible at all to invite to help with difficult quests, and also you have ruined money making on the AH cause you have layered that also. This abomination called layering has to go, its just another form of cross realm like retail, and we all know what cross realm has done to the social aspect of retail, YES, it has killed it. So I and i speak for a lot of others also, call out to blizz to bring an end to this bad technology in classic wow now before it eventually manages to sink the game long term, especially the social and community aspect also

The original planed sharding could fix that issue but for some reason people didn’t like sharding, so blizzard implemented layering that i think is much worse than sharding.

WoW Classic is not suitable for sharding. There are some inter-zone activity. For example Rexxar walks between zones. How is he supposed to exist with sharding? Another issue is that players will constantly phasing on zone borders. While sharding is better for balance, layering is good solution to keep world integrity as much as possible. I can admit that layering did not affect my gameplay so far, not in the slightest. I never saw people phasing out or phasing in. I know that it’s possible, but it’s rare. I was skeptical at first, but now I think that layering is not that bad. Definitely would prefer layering to sharding.
