(cough) Vindicaar (cough)
To be fair, when something is too powerful, I can see why the devs would retire it; otherwise it becomes the answer to everything.

Ok i am ready for compromise. They can keep their stupid portal arrangement and i won’t complain about it anymore if i get my own arcane boat to travel around in swift manner! And i am talking about true working replica now, not some miniatured stripped down player mount version!
LOL I’m ready to set on this deal too ^^
yeah you are right the Vindicaar too, and the list is long, and yes they are right to remove them from the game.
But portals aren’t as nearly as powerful, Can we at least keep those?
The answer to that was already given. Blizzard ignoring well more than 10000 replies of people who didn’t want this should be clear enough of an answer. They don’t care what we want.
Ignoring someone isn’t answering
I was trying with puppy eyes and pretty please to see it that would make any difference
Flying repetivly to MSV from the current lcoation is wearing me thin, my experiences with a bigger world? I fly AFK all over it? Cheers?
yeah it’s pretty bad, not mentioning you have to run back all the way out of some instances too (or if there is an exist please tell me.
Calling now next quality of life change! “We have noticed that people get bored on flightpaths having to find alternative entertainment during the travel and getting less immersed in our wide world. To make world feel more big and immersive, we have added superfun trivia game that automatically starts when you hop on the flight path griffon! Answer all kind of interesting questions about Azeroth, it’s heroas and it’s marketing partners! To make this trivia even more exiting and immersive, failing to answer in 10 seconds or give wrong answer will bring you back to the place you started and trivia will start again. Answering all questions right gives you free flight path ride, sponsored by ____________. Keep you feet on the ground!”
Luckily I had the last pet of HoF on the 3rd run, bought 2 of them so I could skip it altogether. But MSV is still corssing 2 zones, depending on the char 3 minute’ish of flying. Just to oneshot bosses for last pet. I was killing the first 2 bosses quicker than the travel took. I want Shrine back…
it gets worrying when this sounds like something that they might actually try
presume you mean MSV, but if in general, i did all dungeons back in legion to test things, and if you scroll down to look at post 4, and go down to “instance timed runs”, at the end of each instance there is a Y or N. this means if there is a fast way out. i may have missed a few, but it gives an idea.
69 of the 114 pre legion instances have some way to get out “quick” to the start of the instance, (although you’d rarely know it) whether being able to mount, being able to kill yourself or the circuit bringing you back to the start.
EDIT wtf?!? i cant link to articles in old forums?
Uhhhh, have you ever timed how long that trip lasts? If you just miss the zeppelin waiting time is about 10 minutes, then add 5 more minutes travel time. Popularity of this route can be seen just by looking how much it is used. RP point of view i can imagine it is nice.
I can understand what you are going for with your travel ideas, but i am not sure if it would be right way to make world more living. While it is nice idea of a cool system in reality longer if it takes to go to places, less people bother to go to different places just spontaneusly. Further you go from easy travel locations and less and less people you see doing anything in the world.
In other game i play you can instant travel just by clicking quick travel spots on the map. There is even item that teleports you to next active world boss/event location from where ever you are (these events happen every 15 minutes not switching once per week like wow world bosses). And anywhere you go it is always packed with other players doing the content whether it is older stuff or newer. Now that feels like a truly living and busy game world! Difference is that busyness does not come from watching people travel but from having always people everywhere doing the game content.
Now all that being said, i would not oppose of having a good busy airport in use with zeppelin/ship style methods to travel to different places (using airplanes, airships, balloons, helicopters etc.) but with loading screen (short start animation, map image, short arriving animation) not with real time travel ala Thunderbluff_orgrimmar.
I have to clarify that in my earlier post i was in no way against adding all kinds of additional travel methods (like the ones you described), i do think they would be nice addition to world. They just should not be made in expence of the current methods (like removing even more portals).
My gw2 example was mostly to point that having active living world that feels big can be achieved better ways than making travel take longer. Having lot of things to do in different places adds to busyness but having many things to do also adds sense of having a bigger world (because of so many places with things to do). And if you manage to make such world then quick transportation is not ruining the immersion but can work actually opposite, bringing lot of people to where the action is. This all was not said to argue with your point but more against the reasons Blizzard gave for recent portal removal.
My motto is most of the time in this game: add things but don’t remove. So i would welcome your additions and i think they would make world nicer, if same time portals would not be removed.
Of course but it’s because the world is dead, utterly dead and forgotten. They keep talking about a bigger world but nothing happens there, last time Tanaris had something to do was during the Legion pre-patch event in essence. So there you are flying over empty and/or meaningless zones you already ‘explored’ countless of times, in brackets because exploring can only be done once. Why is Dalaran now still in Northrend holding back the Scourge to enter Crystalsong Forest? Heck why are there two of them? World only focusses on the current expac and forgets the old ones exists.
Why not a daily invasion of Naga? In every coastal zone it can happen. So say it’s Westfall for Alliance and Northern Barrens for Horde today and tommorow Dragonblight for both (neutral zone). Also scale it so levelers can enjoy it. We will still get the lame copypasted dailies but atleast a change of scenery.
Edit: have to add tie no achievements to it, just a daily event you can join with extra rewards like mogs, extra currency (say more resources per WQ/daily than a normal one), a special currency etc. Right now unless you wanna go farm some old stuff why even visits old zones? To RP? So all the time we are now forced to fly or take a flight path is seen as useless, just to add to our time played metrics.
Hear hear! And not just easy to miss once per day, let them invade every hour randomly somewhere in coastal areas. And don’t show it on map make people to search around and communicate to others when they find out where it is. First invasion you do per day would give you some better loot reward, after that you would gain still xp (as leveler) and random drops (greys, greens based on area where it happens, world drops, very rare other drops and most importantly some kind of naga tokens you could gather and gain rep/buy rewards with from some vendor). So definately worth doing once per day, but doable for mad grinders and levelers every hour if they wish, keeping every invasion busy with people.
Iv said this for years but the normal response is ‘don’t play horde if you don’t want mud huts’ such a closed minded community.
i love horde but alliance have way more visually pleasing structures to look at, garrisons like you said where a major disappointment art wise to me in comparison…
TBH I don’t get why the Cavern of Time portal is removed.
It was making sense that we were ported from Dalaran to CoT, since Cavern of Time is kinda magic, it is out of time, it’s a place to tell tales of history.
Kinda goes the same with the portal to DragonBlight and Chromie.
Those are kinda out of space and time, and they make sense to be reached by portals.
If you wanted it to make lore sense, then surely a portal to Caverns of Time would be located at the Bronze Dragonshrine in Dragonblight, and not in Dalaran where the Bronze Dragonflight have no affiliation.
yes you’re right, and weirdly enough that’s not how Blizzard designed it in the first place
After trying it I can say that:
All in all, annoying change. I do a lot in Pandaria. Got some Achievs etc there. May have to change my stone for the Shrine instead of the new content area.
