There is an alternative way to get to CoT but it requires rep.
How to get to Caverns of Time without the portal:
The Uldum portal, added in Cataclysm, is still intact. Take the portal and fly east.
Take the Shattrath portal from the Stormwind or Orgrimmar Portal Rooms, go to the World’s End Tavern, and speak to Zephyr to reach the Caverns of Time. Requires Revered with Keepers of Time faction.
I know hun. I got all the requirements. Pandaria’s shrines are the bigger problem for me tbh. That’s not the point though. If Blizzard wants us to go into the world they should make it look interesting. Did you see Durotar lately, in comparison with even Pandaria, not to mention Legion or BoA. It’s painfully ugly. I don’t want to be there.
You can do a work-around with that. If you go to Mogu’shan Palace and queue for the LFR version of the Throne of Thunder and use the Kirin Tor Beacon (Sunreaver Beacon if you’re Horde), then you’ll get teleported to the Isle of Thunder. Then you just leave the instance and you’ll find yourself on the Isle of Thunder, effectively having skipped the flight across Pandaria. If that’s what you want.
But what does that mean?
Take Pandaria again. That continent is wonderful and is actually interesting and meaningful to travel around in. The world bosses are spread around in different zones. Likewise with the Zandalari Warbringers and the various rare mobs.
So the tour around the continent becomes “natural” if you want to do the various raids and dungeons anyway. You’re not wasting time by flying around that place – you’re hitting different points of interest as you travel.
It seems weird to me when people who do old content for collectibles say they want an interesting outdoor world to travel around in, and then at the same time want to skip traveling in Pandaria – the continent that arguably has the most interesting world to travel around in of all!
Don’t understand.
When people have killed Sha over 2000 times that route gets a little boring just sayin but i understand what you mean all i ask of you Jito is a better understanding of how collectors thoughts work as we try to understand yours .
I’m not sure Blizzard could ever design any content in such a way that it remains enjoyable and interesting after doing it more than 2000 times.
I mean, to me it seems as if the extreme collectors are bored out of their mind, and just want to “get it over with” as fast as possible.
Like, it seems as if the playstyle they indulge in isn’t one they actually enjoy, and thus they just seek ways to be done with it as fast as possible.
The mentality blows my mind. For the life of me I cannot understand the motivation of wanting to repeat the same thing over and over again, and then at the same time express a displeasure of repeating the same thing over and over again. Like, how can you be of both minds!? I don’t get it.
I like mount farming…but I actually don’t. The farming part – which is 99% of the activity – is boring, so give me portals so I can be done with it quicker.
At some point we may as well cut out the middle man and just mail all the mounts to everyone so no one has to suffer the misery that mount farming apparently is
After many many MANY travels to get a drop that never happens it’s, to say it blantly, boring. Yes, Pandaria is fairly pretty. But considering how many times I’ve killed all 4 mount dropping rares it’s understanadable I do not share your passion for the views on the route I know better than the contenet of my backpack. Due to their location, the shrines gave a fairly equal distance to all of places of interest. Now it’s off ballanced.
There’s also the matter of time. Not everyone has all day to play. I’d rather have more time spent on the content than on the travel. The real world gets faster, so should the game. Can you imagine if suddenly the trancontinental flights were cancelled so people could really enjoy the size of the Earth by travelling by ships? Same thing IMO.
Of course we can work around anything, not like they made those zone forbidden places, the question is still what does it bring to our game? How does that make the experience more enjoyable?
it’s an arbitrary decision that doesn’t make any sense in regard of player convenience and game play, no matter how you turn this around.
The only real reason, the one that makes sense behind it is that Blizzard wants to raise their metrics and keep players i,-game for no valuable reason.
it means they are forcing us to fly above region that haven’t been reworked for ages, nothing was added there, the graphics are still terrible, they feel very boring, empty and out dated.
Pandaria looks good, but as Deyling stated
if they want us to go around there, they should make the world alive, like there is something meaningful there, something alive.
We don’t travel the world for sight seeing, we travel because we have too, because what we want to reach is most likely an instance where there is the things we want to grab. Or a boss out in the world like Sha or Nalak, but we don’t do it for sight seeing, we’ve seen those things over and over, and there is nothing to discover there anymore. The wonder is gone. We go there out of habit, because we “need” to go there to fill our collections. Because WoW has become a game where collecting thing shave become more and more important over the years. Otherwise they wouldn’t have add battle pets and transmogrifications, not mentioning mounts.
They have made achievements about those collections, there is a whole tab about collection, even two if you count battle pets.
Going and collecting things have little to do MMO and RPG for that matter, you may disapprove but it has been added by Blizzard’s devs.
So since it has little to do with MMO and RPG might as well give us convenience to reach those places and work on their MMO and RPG aspect where it suits.
You are reading it the wrong way people enjoy mount farming just not added time to it .Most of us raid or do mythic + aswell its not only our source of enjoyment .
See all you see atm is mount+portal you are not seeing + added time but its like always around in circles iam just asking you to see the bigger picture like you ask us to understand your immersion.
Honestly don’t get why there was a need for this, nobody asked this, and they just had to do this for what? Djeez, stupid change, reverse it please, it is rediculous!
I’m trying to get the Legion Class Mount for my first ever Mage today. One of the quests wants me to use the portal to Karazhan. I go to the Chamber of the Guardian and guess what, no portal. >Guess I gotta fly from Stormwind or the Blasted Lands. (sarcasm) >What fun! (/sarcasm)
Good thing I already had the spells for Ancient Dalaran because I also have to go there and that portal was likewise absent.
Who’s idea was it to remove the portals and only make them available when you’re on a quest that uses them? Because that plan doesn’t seem to be working so well.
“I’m just not sure how well this plan was thought through.”
They said they would keep the portals when we were on the quests though didn’t they?
BORNAKK 16 days ago
I didn’t get a chance to verify it, but the plan was for the portals to show if you are on these quests.
Also it is not the only post I read from other players in the same position (on reddit and such)
Indeed.
The removal of portals seems like rushed implementation though since they didn’t rework the text or kept the required portals for the quest linked to it.
Bring back all portals and keep the new ones, thank you.
I want to go to the shrine, not paw don village. I want a caverns of time portal, not flying over ungoro for the 234525345 time, i’ve seen it, did all quests more than once, can we move on? I want more time playing your game and not alt tabbing to do something else while riding a taxi.
Judging by the bs motivation they gave us, i said they didn’t really think this through before making the change, let alone planning a new check after.
Removing portal “because we want you to explore the world” while leaving a ton of objects and npc that essentially do the same job of a portal with just that little extra inconvenience does not feel as properly thought.
Not to mention the whole huge communication debacle.
If you want an example of how badly rushed this change feels check the brawler vendor.
Is it really necessary leaving there the teleport ring? Every damn portal in the world is to stormwind, mage tower to tram is 30 sec flying max (and it’s your declared goal to have people moving around to make the world feel alive) and yet you’re leaving a item that teleports directly inside the pub bypassing the town.
Why? What for?
