Reasons Why World Quests should return to being Daily

Hi, this seems to be a hot debate at the moment.

The number one reason I keep seeing for removing them from the game is that people don’t want to feel like they need to log in everyday.

Well, here is a list of reasons why Daily World Quests should return.

  • They add variety to the Alt Levelling and Questing Experience

After unlocking adventure mode, you have a few options for levelling new alts. 1) Repeat the Questlines that you have already done on your Mains, 2) Spam Dungeons and few bi-weekly Was 3) Gathering Professions (very much overlooked as a good Rep Source). 4) Join a Hardcore Grind group for Grand Hunts or Siege of Dragon Bane.

Now, having Daily World Quests here will mean that there is a different selection of quests available each time you do it. Rather than just queuing up for a Grand Hunt and doing the same thing over and over, you can complete whatever variety of WQ’s are available that day.

  • It’s a good way of limiting how much you play.

There is a selection of 10 WQ’s up on a given day. So instead of joining a Grand Hunt and keep telling yourself “Just one more hunt, just one more Hunt”, you’ll be able say “I’ll just do these 10 WQ’s and that’s me done for the day”.

  • It fills a huge gap in the in being level 70.

There is a huge gapping hole in the level 70 experience at the moment. Sure M+, PVP and Raiding will fill that for some. But not everyone wants to spend 100% of their game time doing those activities. Some actually enjoying opening up a map each day and seeing what is available for them to do in the nearby area.

  • It brings variety.

Everyday there are (well, there were previously) different World Quests up. This meant that your daily activities felt different each day. You weren’t tied into completing the same static quest lines for Reputation on each alt. You could choose which WQ’s you did and didn’t do.

  • In 2 or 3 months time nobody is going to be group farming the Renown reputations the way they are today (Grand Hunts etc.).

At the end of the day, giving people more option isn’t a bad thing. Taking away that option from people just makes the game more bland.

Aren’t professions filing that time gap for you?

OR…

Daily release of world quests that have a 7 day timer, regardless of the weekly reset.

Do the fresh ones every morning, save them up for the weekend - it’s your choice.

Combine with sliding weekly caps on the rewards, and an average of 3 days per week being enough to meet it. Alts can catch up, you can have 2 weeks holiday in the sun and not get too far behind.

I for one would vastly prefer that to the 24 hour window of opportunity and if you miss it, you’re forever behind.

Not really.

Once you have weekly capped your Knowledge, there’s not really a lot more you can improve on with it.

Enchanting is maxed out, and unprofitable due to the players who exploited Artisan Reputation. And Tailoring is pretty much useless at the moment.

What I do manage to sell only takes a few minutes to craft and put on AH each day.

That’s it, it just needs spreading out over the week.

I just finished my 3 remain daily quests from the most recent reset. Its nice to look at the map everyday and see what’s fresh and new to do.

Instead I look at an empty map, and wonder when the new WQ reset is.

Amen to that

There is a weekly cap? is it cumulative like the catalyst in ZM or otherwise?

That is why I wrote yesterday about the restoration of the emissaries. The reputation bonus after completing 4 world quests is a good bonus. In addition, world quests in DF are much easier and faster. 3 days to do 4 world quests as it was so far is probably not a great requirement for an MMO game. After all, active players should be rewarded for their play, not forced to wait for players who log in once every 3 days.

Well, I don’t really know what it is. I haven’t seen any Knowledge for my Enchanting since before the weekend. I’ve collected all the one-time chests etc.

I’m hoping there will be another drop next week.

For every day I had Game Time in Shadowlands, I completed the daily Callings (except when it was Torghast). I loved them, it was nice to have something to do between queues or when I just wanted to chill out.

Exactly. For me, world quests are a stepping stone from pve/pvp. Something for a single player and it was nice to get rewarded with gold and reputation. And now it would be nice to have an excuse to leave town since flying a dragon is so fun.

Honestly, that reads like someone was asked to debate a stance they didnt believe in or care about.

Your reasons are pretty uncompelling.

Wasn’t one thread about this enough?

Daily quests are never going to win over something that you can do whenever you want.

Blizzard should make MORE weekly quests, so that you can’t realistically do them all in a day (say 50 or even 100), and then you can choose to spread them however you like through the week.

Remember that raiders have had to deal with lockouts since vanilla, where you complete a raid in 4 hours, then having no more raids you can do for a week, no-one is supporting the needs of raiders having “no raids to do”. They could choose to spread the raid bosses over a few days, much as you can choose to spread your WQs over a few days, but that’s the great thing about something that lasts a week, users have a choice.

For you maybe. However, that’s why I like world quests.

This is a Hot topic at the moment, so there’s plenty to debate in multiple threads.

You can do daily quests whenever you want. It doesn’t matter if you skip a day here and there.

I think what someone suggested earlier on, where having most quests refresh daily, but last longer. That was those who want to log in and see what is available each day, can do just that. But those who want to save them all up for the week end, won’t be missing out.

At this point its pretty obvious they are clueless about what they are doing, if people cant not do WQ’s every day because of FOMO, it’s on them.

Not a good look for the expansion when things happen back and forth like this

It’s because we’ve had 4 years of game design where you get behind on character power if you don’t keep up the treadmill.

This is less true in DF; 90% of what’s there is cosmetic, the other 10% is professions, so really it’s only that smaller proportion that anyone should be worried about, but I do think that the playerbase has been set up to expect a grind and worry when they don’t seem to be doing one. It actually feels weird to be able to say “I’ve done all I can”.

Still, I would prefer that world content not make it so that logging in every day is the only way to actually have a useful profession and not get edged out by the nolifers. There are alternative options that can satisfy both weekend bingers and daily nibblers - but 24 hour timers definitely can’t do that.

There is a very easy solution yes, make the WQ’s last for 3 days instead of one day, that way its bi weekly if people decide for it to be bi weekly, and it works for those who want it daily.

That is a great idea. Instead of “daily WQ” those could be “daily refilled WQ” instead.

Give each player a specific amount of daily WQ slots and each time you complete one (no matter when), you get a new WQ on the next daily reset.

But there is also a problem with that. People that play a lot more will very likely be not in the same WQ area than yourself because they have different WQs.

They never were daily in the first place… thank god for that. I still have some do to before reset and I’m not looking forward to it. I’m still addicted to complete all the dragonriding races…

If they keep saying “one more hunt” they’re just gonna swap that to “10 WQs then we go spam hunt”.

Probably, but it’s a lot more fun than just doing hunt after hunt!

i don’t understand why people compare world quests to mission table and zm or other stuff. adding a few more quests or making them daily would not be much grinding and you could easily skip those since they already don’t give much reward anyway

Exactly. The only thing they would lose is that they would get a new dragon color a day later. But for some reason, quite a few players block new content for active players.
