I’m going to give the HC challenge a go. So i know i need to download the addon but it also recommends i record my run for verification. I have never recorded anything on my PC. I have a 4090 and apparently Nvidia comes with its own recording software.
Anyone know if its any good? Or is it recommended another addon or software to record my run?
Help appreciated as always.
Nvidia Shadowplay, or I guess it’s called GeForce Experience now, is a very handy tool, indeed! You can choose to record all the time, or, have it save the latest X minutes with the press of a keybind combation. I have mine set up to record the last 2 minutes.
Your machine should also have xBox gamebar which can be used to record.
I hope you have a lot of spare hard drive space to record the whole levelling process.
Why do you actually need to record your run? If the add-on doesn’t trust you, maybe you shouldn’t trust it either. And who do you need to show the recording to?
Recording isn’t really a requirement for HC anymore. It’s useful in case you need to appeal your death however. Quoting from classichc website:
Verified runs no longer require a recording or stream of your journey, however it is still strongly recommended that you record as it is your only way of appealing a disconnect or griefing death. They do not require a Blizzard confirmation of no deaths. The Hardcore addon (version 0.7.0 or higher) is required for verification, and you must have it from character creation onward. Runs that began without the addon still require recording of the full run. Most achievements also require recording for verification, please check with a mod in the discord.
You could appeal your character’s death?
Isn’t one recommendation for Playing Hardcore that you always play with stable internet connection?
Isn’t griefing part of the gameplay? If you don’t want it to happen, don’t play on a PVP realm.
Wether or not you agree with the concept of death appeals is up to you. I am personally neutral on the subject. But the fact is that it’s a thing.

HC is played on PvE realms for the vast majority, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t griefers. They have gotten very clever, I can tell you that much. Both same faction & opposing faction.
