Hello,
I would like to give feedback on a feature that is not talked about too much, and that is the in game recruitment tool. Right now on retail it’s very hard to find active players of any kind, especially by using external tools like Discord, Forums, Reddit, raiderio, warcraftlogs, guildsofwow and what other recruitment sites are there.
I would like to emphasize that having a working recruitment tool in game would help a lot the core of the game - guilds. Players usually spend more time in game if they have a nice group of people to play with. In order to get that community feeling, you need to find other players. I am giving this feedback from a perspective of trying to create a new guild - it’s a horrible experience that almost no one wants to do.
If you want to help the game and you want to improve your metrics of players spending more time in game, try to focus a bit on this.
The list of improvements that I think can help:
- Make the recruitment tool cross-faction, cross-server
- Allow the players to set their status as “looking for guild” and show their character and put the ability to send them in-game mail and then allow the tool to search for these players
- Allow players to set their status as LFG also by marking their alts for recruitment
- Show the guild progress on bosses in raid so players know what they are joining
So far these are the things that I thought of, but I am sure that there are people here that can add more of what they think it would be needed.
I really think that the game needs a very good in game recruitment tool which will allow new guilds to grow easier.
Thanks.

EVERY aspect of the guild interface needs updating. It’s borderline unfit for purpose. Most is either bugged or so poor it requires an addon to fix the deficits in it to make it useable for normal use. It’s like they’re deliberately trying to dissuade people from creating and running guilds. So, first off, thank you for making that leap despite the apparent lack of interest from Blizzard in guilds.
As for the guild finder - agree with everything you’ve said. cross realm, cross faction guilds are now a thing, yet Blizzard seem to have only done half the job when they created that - sure, cross faction can join guilds, but we have to create “workarounds” to make that happen.
It also frustrates me from a guild leader perspective that the guild-side interface for that is broken. The UI for applicants cannot be properly sorted – it allows you to “sort” by clicking on the heading, but what actually results isn’t any “sort” I understand. Probably not helped by the fact that two columns are actually under one heading.
There is no control once you’ve “accepted” someone. You can’t recind that sent invite and there is no expiry date. We’ve had people join our guild with an alt they’d applied with months earlier, despite having been removed from the guild on their other characters in the meantime. We’ve had people “stuck” in the interface with an invite they never accepted - for months. Sometimes it’s bugged (they’ve since transferred/renamed the character) and sometimes they just stop playing the character or don’t even see they have the invite.
There should also be the option to send applicants in-game messages, regardless of what realm or faction they’re on. If not through the mailbox system, then actually through the guildfinder UI.
There should be better search functions and tooltips for both the guilds and the applicants giving more information such as raid progression, M+ status, achievement score, etc, and, ideally, links to the Armories.
