Regarding Man'ari

well said good sir

Please don’t diss Mechagon mechagnomes, I have one of those too!

Also same could be said about void and high elves!

I was thinking about this, what you have said. I am fresh to RP and I might have a bit bad imagination of the class. I always understood warlocks as these edgy powerhungry dark sorcerers, but could it be a mage with expertise on demons, who is starting to use Fel latently only in studies and research out of hunger for knowledge, but normally using arcane?

Fixed it. No need to thank me, it is practically my civic duty.

That is one option, yes
But tons of reasons are there why and how someone became a Warlock
Loved a girl, became an Alchemist to brew love potions but after faliure upon faliure found grandpapa’s old grimoire and hesitantly summoned a Sucubus as an expert?
Revenge?
The Alliance burned my Caravan, I will show them fire! O’ dak spirits of the Deep Desert, hear my call, bring the scorching heat of the noon desert sun and help me to avange my family!
Many Warlock became very bad because of a very good reason
Sure most of them are powerhungry but still… that dark path could be like Anakin"s spiral down to Darkness, out of love and fear.
Eventually all ends up damned, but for a time they could fool themselves and others they are “doing it for the greater good”
And it beats to be a Demon Hunter…
Everyone know Demon Hunters are like what dentists compared to the doctors :no_mouth:
I mean what is a Demon Hunter?
Someone who failed to become a proper Warlock.

DH: I will beat a Demon - probably one I have a personal grudge against - cut out its heart, consumes it, drink its blood and my body will be the prison for it for an eternity… or untill it gets out or drove me mad with its whispers, but untill then some of its powers will be mine and will use it against the Legion, becasue I need power to have my revenge!
Warlock: Cute. Ever heard of Grimoire of sacrifice? Basically the same, just without the fancy tattoos to keep the stolen power in check. Face it kiddo, you are a loser. “I’ve lost and sacrificed eveeeerything for…” boo-hoo, grow a pair and show those Demons who is the boss! Me? I command Demons, they fear me ! They serve me! With my summoning rituals any Demon could be dragged to our word and with proper preparation bound to my will. If I give the order my Demon slaves go and kill their own kind, while I sit back and relax from safe distance. If they die? Who cares, I will summon another. Or they reform anyway in the Nether eventually. My Sayaad and Shivarra are hot as Hell, packs of Felstalkers track down my target and tear it apart, I even capable to force my will to the Darkness itself, the Void Sargeras feared, to command one of its minions. Imps die en masse in an exploding fashion when I want and even mighty Tyrants, Felguards and Wrathguards will march to battle to may command! Not even an Annihilan is “safe”, those so-called-Pit “Lords” will charge to wreack havoc if I let them in our world. Speaking of havoc, my flames are way more destructive than a puny Fire mage’s spells, the forces of chaos will tear reality itself apart or my curses and affilictions wither anyone from inside. You couldn’t even handle the truth and tore your own eyes out, or burned out during your first eyebeam. Now tell me, kid, what do you have???
DH: B-B-But… glaiiiiiives! And Illidaaaaaan and…
Warlock: Right, be a good lad and rush in to battle, you have a 50-50 chance will die there or lose controll, while I chill here and my Demons will do the dirty work for me . Don’t worry, I promise you if you go insane, I will enslave, sorry, subjugate you “half-Demon”!

Well, I was thinking also about Draenei girl who lost everything in Shattrath and hates demons that just killing them (Usual Draenei mentality - demons have no right to exists and Fel is abominable and should be destroyed) isn’t enough and wants to enslave them and humiliate them instead. Altough if she would have been discovered that she uses Fel, even in secret, by her own… it’s head down… literally.

Also how it is with the magic’s effect on user? I tough they are slowly becoming what they summon and subjugate from using it.

I’m glad I always found love potions really weird as a kid because now as an adult I only find them a thousand times more bizarre.

Every “realm” is jelous and wants You
Void? It makes you insane with whispers and infinte truths
Light? It makes you rigid and zaelous - not good by any means - and if could would turn anything into crystalline desert with everpresent light and only accept one truth and one way- their truth and their way
Death? Oblivion and Entropty are everconsuming and hungry force of the universe
Life and Nature? Corruptive just like the others; leaves, vines, rampant vegetation and all consuming life - Draenor had such force go unchaked for a time
Order and Chaos, aka Arcane and Fel is just as corruptive as the others

Fel will - just like Arcane - twist your mind, mutates you and slowly become the part of it

But many others deeply belives in them
Kids, adults
Desperate lovers, lonely souls
And in WoW love potions really works - love is in the air event is a good example for it
But if you are a bad alchemist (never had the talent, patientce, etc) or just failed to brew it, desperate, faliure after faliure potentially can drive you in to the darker arts…
O’ the atrocities and horrible things people done for love and in the name of love…

Never heard of Arcane corruption. Not of the Life either but you have a point with Draenor.

Also I would say making every cosmic power essentialy the same, just with different goals, is just boring. I think Blizzard should cease down with their “Greyness”, they just make everything boring. But it is what it is…

There are the Four Laws:
Magic is Powerful.
Magic in Azeroth is the difference between a slave and a master, a foot soldier and king. Few races and nations can operate without powerful mages and warlocks. The use of arcane magic is growing; historically, each time this has happened before, a great disaster shortly follows. However, even though the history of the arcane is well known, mages and their patrons invariably come to the same self-serving conclusion: It won’t happen to them.
Magic is Corrupting.
Magic corrupts the soul; if the humblest person in Azeroth became a practitioner of the arcane, by the time the practitioner reached the higher levels in their art, all traces of her humble roots would be lost. Magic breeds pride and arrogance. Magic corrupts the body
Magic is an Addiction.
When one feels the power of an arcane spell coursing through one’s body as it’s being cast, resisting the urge to cast it again is difficult. Frequent use leads to a desire for more and, eventually, to a desire for the evil fel energy
Magic attracts the Twisting Nether Like Flies to Honey.

The arcane is addictive. You’ll start off with the odd Polymorph at parties, and then one day you’re mainlining from the Well of Eternity (beacsue Arcane and Fel, Order and Chaos are just the two sides of the same coin, really)

It’s also a gateway magic. Soon Arcane Missiles won’t quite do the job, so you flirt with fel magic, maybe summon a demon or two, or bring someone back from the dead.

Through Well of Eternity, the night elves became virtually immortal by feeding on its potent source of arcane energy. Over their lengthy isolation, the exposure to the Nightwell gradually transformed the night elves of Suramar from their original appearance to their present darker, more night-based, form as the nightborne
The high elf race was fundamentally changed from being constantly suffused in magic, and became addicted to the Sunwell’s energies. With their source of magic gone, they all suffered acute pangs of withdrawal.

Just see any druid, hooves, feathers, antlers, vines and leaves, flower blooms…
Astetic mutations, perhaps, but mutations non the less and their views and values are twisted to see it from the “nature” perspective

Seems in line with what we know, really. The demons can spend their wretched lives by the thousands in penance for their murderous crusade.

Not sure you can get a lot darker than trying to drug someone into loving you :skull:

In a sense, Arcane “twisted”/corrupted the ancient Eredar too
They belived themselves superior to anyone
The msot advanced race in the Great Dark Beyond, society built on Arcane - and through that other “schools” of magic like Death Magic, they used to call back the souls and bound them to create Vigilants, Velen was an adept Light user, Thal’kiel opened the door to the Fel
Arcane made the Eredar to explore and want more and arrogant enough to belive they can controll it, they deserves it!
And when Sargeras arrived and offer more power?
Yeah… :eyes:

Never tought about it that way.

I guess I forgot about that or haven’t tought about it like corruption, and I guess we can more further where the Trolls were transformed to Nelfs.

True, but is life magic also addictive?

I guess you are right.

But you can
Many who use those potions are belive - fooling themselves - it is just to kick start
I will use that only one time
Just… just to know each other. To have a chance!
And when she will love me, eventually she will see and will love me without the potion
Love and desperation…
And when it is obvious not works…
Anger
Hate
A love potion is the first step in a very long and very dark road leading to damnation

To the point the Druids and Green Dragons are bound to the Dream and many will never able to leave it
But puting aside that, Life is so addictive, many quit even dying
Druid healing involves life force being drained and transferred
Thus Blood magic is a form of tortured life magic that uses blood as a power source
But all above anything else, Life seeks Balance
And if Balance means whole species have to go extinct, civilizations crumble… so be it
It is not unlike the Force, really
Anakin indeed brought Balance to the Force - thousands and thousands of Jedi and god knows how many Light Side users vs a few Sith and their acolytes
Eventually, Balance been achieved - the price was horrible
Same in WoW
The Emerald Dream represents how Azeroth would have been if intelligent beings had not altered its surface, or what the world might some day be again
And either consciously or subconsciously every follower/practicioner works toward that goal, and addicited to Nature’s powers

Here I disagree. I have quit SW after sequel trilogy tho but from my understanding the Dark Side is more likely a cancer on the Force, more comparable to Chaos in Warhammer, which is a cancer upon the Warp and reality. It’s just from Wish.

Common misconception
Just think what Yoda said:

“Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the Force around you; here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere, yes. Even between the land and the ship”

The “Sides” are just methods how to use the Force
The light side aligned with calmness, peace, and passiveness, and is used only for knowledge and defense
To tap into the power of the dark side is to indulge in raw emotions such as passion, anger, and hatred
But the Dark Side is evil?
No
It is integral part of all living things, it is the shadow of the soul
What is the Dark side? Hate? Love? Emotions? Destruction? Power?
Death?
These are all part of Life
(And this duality is in WoW too, with Life-Death, Dream-Ardenwealed, etc)
It is the part of the Force
Without destruction wouldn’t be room for new things
Without Death, Life would wither, Life main source of death, it blooms in death
Emotions like Love, Hate, Fear, every raw emotion associated with the Dark Side are the things that makes you Alive
Practicioners of the Dark Saide uses it to their own ends, but the “Dark Side made me do it” is just as a bad excuse as “the Devil made me do it”
No , it was you, you tossed those lightings, you murdered Younglings, you destroyed a Planet
Even Dark Side seeks Balance - and if you fail to balance it, it will devour you to remove the imbalanced individual from the Universe

This is correct yes, the dark side is a corruption of it. Or at least it was originally, I can’t say whether later properties have changed it, but originally the Light side was the balanced side, and the Dark side a corruption that should not exist at all (this is also why the original trilogy as well as the prequels have 0 mentions of a ‘light side’, it’s just the natural state of the force)
