I was quite intrigued by this new system for shifting around item levels, in particular I wanted to see what fun stuff I could send new alts for levelling.
So far though, all the ‘fun’ stuff seems to be excluded from the system leaving us with just boring items that are no different to what is on the AH or from quests.
Has anyone found any good / interesting uses for Relics of the past yet?
No as far as i can tell they fulfil no purpose other than to waste development and test time
They are additional optional crafting mats that can upgrade some crafted items.
I should have been clearer. I understand their function, but I don’t understand their purpose. They can’t be used on gear that is interesting, just on boring things that when down or up levelled are the same as quest greens.
Did we need another source of quest greens or am I missing something?
Possible transmog items to replace the WoD reagents that aren’t available in SL is my guess.
Pretty sure they’re for twinks to get whatever crafted item with OP broken effect they want to an appropriate ilvl.

probably would be cool if levelling took as long as classic, and the items were even less plentiful (/or less powerful)
they are not, so their best use was to farm raw gold… however past n nerfs the idea became er screwed.
wonder if they’d at least give proper enchanting mats for their ilvl…
Not 100% useless. The relics can be used on items from old expansions (WoD for example) and I believe they’re for players that collect appearance items so they’re useful for them.

You probably think you’re vey important and that Blizzard should only put stuff un the game that suits you but you’re not important and Blizzard are writing the game for a wide variety of playstyles.
I’m sure there are things that you get or want in the game that are ‘useless’ on the basis that someone else doesn’t want or use them.
I don’t play a Panda or a Death Knight so that makes them useless too by your logic.

My problem is they nerfed the relics of he past literally right before the patch making them useless for people who planned to make them for alts, do you seriously think the majority of people saw the item level it was meant to be and said to themselves " Oh wow, I can’t wait to collect WoD appearances "
Secondly, you still need to engage with WoD professions to craft items, including setting up a Garrison to make the burnished leather, it doesn’t factor into WoD much in the slightest, the same likely applying to old expansions as well.

Doesn’t need to be a majority, there are a lot of people that collect transmogs and Blizzard obviously took note of the thread complaining about the loss of the WoD upgraded items transmogs.
You may be surprised that a lot of players already have a garrison and have WoD crafting maxed.
Just because you don’t see a need or use for them doesn’t make them useless.
You don’t need the relics of the past system to collect the transmog, if you are only using it for collecting the transmog then increasing the crafting cost to collect it is stupid
People were complaining because the changes made to include relics of the past removed the transmog from upgraded wod pieces, not people we complaining so blizz introduced relics of the past.
If you edge case is for lowbie people to get transmog items earlier, that was a very expensive change to decimate the existing crafting system for the handful of people that might do that.
Except, they are useless.
Making them for the sake of transmog is easier by simply buying the materials or farming old world dungeons, you need a relic of the past in addition to the expansion of choices crafting reagents.
You’re basically adding an extra crafting reagent on top of the normal costs.

Is now impossible for WoD upgraded items because you can no longer make the item that upgrades gear.
I’m aware of that, I’m also aware Blizzard said there’s already plans to bring them back in a future patch.
I wish more people queued there even as a new healer /tank. Its really not that hard these days,
