Reminder about the GCD bug

It’s been more than a year at this point and it’s still not fixed :+1:

What is it?

It basically disables any proc effects while you are on the global cooldown. So if you use Bloodthirst as a Warrior, for a bit of time, you are unable to proc items such as Hand of Justice, Darkmoon Card Maelstrom, etc.

Edit: to visualize it with an example, Shadow Oil is advertised to be a 15% proc chance, but with the GCD bug, it’s barely 3%. Or Nightfall, which is supposed to be 25%, the maximum you could ever reach is 18%, but normally, it’s barely 10%.

Uhm no, it’s a data flag set on certain procs. In other words, it’s not a bug. It also doesn’t affect every proc. For example HoJ doesn’t have that data flag, so you’re wrong about that one.
Nightfall however does have that data flag on it, to prevent the proc during GCD.

It’s something the vanilla game devs put into the game at some point, and so the Classic team has stated very clearly that they don’t intend to change it. Because it’s there by design, so it’s NOT a bug.

the actual answer for why these items are bound by the GCD was far more mundane; some proc effects simply have a data flag set to obey GCDs, and the items listed in the original thread about this all have that data flag set in the 1.12 data. We still don’t consider this to be a bug as the fact that this was set in the original data even more strongly suggests that these effects were intended to behave this way from the start.

Again, sincere apologies for the bad info. While we feel its important that some sense of mystery remains in the game for players to discover and decipher, we at least want to ensure that whatever information we do share to be correct and not contribute further to the misinformation that is common in discussions around game mechanics.
