just a quick question, should I get a internal or external ssd, I do have one internal one, but to smal due to having windows on it.
but does an external one work to play on?
Depending on what PC you have you should have additional SATA or M.2 or MSATA connectors allowing for additional storage devices. Some laptops don’t offer that but aside of those you should be able to extend the storage. External (USB3) based drives (not flash drives as those usually perform poorly) could be used but look into them only if you can’t add an internal one.
I find it hilarious that I have no idea what you all are talking about =P
I’ve been playing computor games ever since home computors became a thing. and yet I dont have the slightest idea whats inside this hunk-a-junk next to me xD
If ppl ask me what system I use I usually say “electric” xD
If I can play SL on max everything? …guess I just have to wait and see =)
It’s the same story every new expansion: The high storage requirement is the size at which the game might end up as at the end of the new expansion, in other words a placeholder size.
How’s moving to a SSD a huge leap? this game is so old and it’s only increasing in size. Not to forget that they increase the graphics/quality of things every expansion. New zones demand way more than the older ones. Going from a HDD to an SSD in 2020 is a joke, you’re a couple years late tbh. It used to be expensive but it really isn’t anymore. Cant imagine why people would wanna stick to a HDD now anyways, everythings runs faster/smoother on a SSD and the prices aren’t that different. It’s gonna suck for people that use a laptop to play with but yeah, should invest in a game computer it’s worth it.
Went from HDD to SSD not long ago and the load time is just … oh man … so much better, on HDD it would go Load screen > load textures around you ( time it takes depending on area you are in ) overall could take 20-30 sec for me sometimes.
Now with SSD is just load screen ( 5 sec more or less ) > done.
External SSDs speed is limited by a few factors - the SSD itself, the cable you’re using to connect it to the computer and also the version of the USB port. I’m definitely doing something wrong, but when I connect an SSD to my PC, it can’t go over 100MBPS, which for WoW would be too slow. Tbh, it’s probably that I’m using garbage USB cables.
Never said its best option, hell it would be probably even more expensive than change half of his laptop, but its an option, which with good ssd cable and port will work better than medicore hdd.
