Remove Arena Rating Req for most items

lots of double dps teams with rogues + (feral, retpally etc), using those on proc extra dmg trinkets like: 2x dmf death, 2x bandits insignia, then 2x rocket hands engineering thing.
everything proccs/used at the same time those items can deal like 8-10k extra on top of their normal skills.

im pretty much dead af xd

Not only that but servers are STILL locked too. Virtually just a switch that needs flipping and it’s not being done.

If you stick your hand in the sand maybe^^. Not to be mean here, but it sure sounds a lot of people just want free gear without putting atleast some effort in. If people are as bad as they make themselves out to be, they dont need all the deadly gear anyway.

Currently you require gladiator levels of rating to get said gear.

At which point you’re getting the gear for no reason.

Ilvl 213 over 200 isn’t much for a single item, but when it’s a full set it’s quite substantial. You’re basically suggesting that people who play for gladiator want nothing but to pwn nubs rather than challenging gameplay.

There is no point arguing with you sorry.

No you dont. You only require “gladiator levels of rating - 1900” for the deadly head piece. The Chestpiece is 1600 which is quite doable.

“No you don’t, but you do.”

Literally you, 2 minutes ago.

One single piece of gear is hidden behind your “gladiator rating” wall. Get a grip and learn to play.

Technically 2 cause you’re forgetting about weapons, as bad as they are.

edit: 3, how on earth did you exclude shoulders?

PvP system needs changes, but I dont think removing the rating is what would help here …

We already saw it on TBC, people did their “weekly 5s” especially with the point boost and then stopped playing …
And anyone who actually wanted to play was zogged anyway, because 1200-1400 rating was infested by full geared rogues with GDKP glaives who had 0,5 winrate and could never get anywhere …

So you got full deadly gear, cool, now what ? You are not getting anywhere since you are either noob or dont play meta combo …

Enjoy running into full deadly palacombos at 1000 rating …

I like how your entire rant is about “changing ratings won’t fix anything” but ending on this note.

Exactly. You get it.

Well that was meant “after” the change …

When gear no longer matters in pvp, people will realize they can no longer use it as an excuse and will cry about something else …

Now if you lose on low rating, you either met smurfs or they were better …(meaning you wont meet full deadly person who never got higher rating)
Once everyone has the same gear, AT ALL TIME, there is no excuse other than your own skill …

And we all know how good people are at admitting their own mistakes …

That happens now too cause the barrier of entry to get into WotLK arenas is simply too big atm for no tangible gains outside of doing arenas.

Which means once people get full endgame gear for free, they will stop playing arenas anyway … which we saw on TBCC

Translate this to PvE … how many people would actually stay raiding if they got full endgame gear at the start …
People would get bored pretty quickly, it would introduce even bigger “54153434GS requirement for deadmines” nonsens, since if everyone has the same, gear you now need actually good players to see difference in dps, and people would quit …

The only ones still playing after that would be people pushing logs … same as in PvP, only people playing for the actual arenas would remain …

And if you want to spam lowbie pugs/rbgs, then gear makes absolutely no difference for you …

I mean, dont take me wrong … offparts being behind rating, especially when that rating is in the “safe zone” makes absolutely 0 sense …

And having no access to weapons through PvP system, is also slap worthy offense, especially when those lower weapons literally exist in the game since original wotlk …

But completely removing the rating from sets … eeehh … I dont think thats the right way to go …

Of course! I do have a holy paladin alt hard stuck around 1,300 in two brackets. And yes, I do fake cast with varying degree of success. I must admit that I don’t have engi rockets on my gloves though. Heard it was insta +200 rating but I can’t afford levelling another profession right now

What I’m trying to say is that you’re doing alright. Don’t let your current rating discourage you. It’s just a random number that has very little bearing on your actual experience. It sucks that it gatekeeps youfrom obtaining the best gear, but you’ll eventually get there. After all, you went through the hell of solo ranking, didn’t you?

I agree with you and keep in mind that i deleted nearly all post ( was too long.)

i would say 5-15 % participation.(glad-rival range + gladiators have alts )

Example of low participation problem.
My friend is learning about pvp and he had bad day. he was playing around 1500 raiting and lost 100 raiting in 10 games. He said some matches were hard but he lost 6 times vs 1300 players.
He sent me videos and asked me what to improve. when i watched it, he really had bad day. those 1300 rating people were r1 players on alts

Arena problems

  • reward (i don’t care what, give people boxes with 0.01 mount drop or something like that if they win arena so maybe they will not focus only on rating)
  • Bugs ( nothing to add) - my partner quited wotlk on 1930 rating when he got me spell pen off hand and wand after 2 weeks, it bothered him too much.
  • Rng (less rng with resists = better gameplay)(buble can resist mass dispel)

Blizzard added something good at end of tbc - even with high rating, you don’t get more then 1500 points per week.
So even if casuals can get points(1000 points if low bracket) but they can’t buy anything of it.

  • Items(no rating req - some items like off hand and wand has spell penetration and you really need them for pvp(1800) (you can keep shoulders as title)
(rng problem - in s2,s3,s4 my guild was really unlucky with healer weapons in pve so i had pvp weapons for whole expansion)
(add pve items - even those with pve focused guys can do 10 games and buy something in 4 week time if they had bad rng with items in pve)

Short story : if people can play arenas and gain something from it even by participating, they will try it and some of them will love it.
(i did join pve guild because i need pve items for pvp. Today even if i quit pvp, i would still play pve with guildmates - its fun now :D)
If i didnt’ play in OG wotlk when we weren’t hardcore, i m sure i wouldn’t play it today with this skill gap(compare it time invested as “insane” title) and amount of learning time to have fun.

Yeah it’s not on you, classes that depends on balance to survive are harder hit.

-Hardcore pillar humping ( can’t fix this one. This is game and i m playing for fun, not for queue time. Learn to rush and start with minor disadvantage or wait 15 mins)
-Bugs(Some classes are harder hit so there is no balance.)
-Balance(final patch made (-15% ress effect and -10 % reduce healing) + dots crit do not affect ress + bugs = 30 %-40% more dmg vs before and add 10 % less healing = hpala can survive it with buble)
-RNG(Nobody likes it, some people are willing to sacrifice “stats” even its not “stat wise” decision, to gain more hit( overcapped hit “can” decrease talents for resist) and it’s still not fixed)(mass dispel resist on buble, stoicism, silent resolve, etc )

Played feral/pr before, now hunter priest for fun. It’s sad thing to say, but sometimes i laugh too much when my partner gets 3x time in row bug with scatter + trap vs hpalas. (trap doesnt activate and pala run away from it) and add in that story mass dispel resist on buble. (it’s fun if you don’t care for rating…Otherwise I would go mad .)

Yeah, Head piece and Shoulders, i exclude the weapons since they are so bad compared to what you can get by simply doing Naxx.

I still think the rating requirement should stay. I mean, what are you playing towards if you get all the stuff handed to you?

If anything, the playerpool is the only issue i see. I played against a glad/r1 twitch streamer a few weeks back and ofc got rolled over hard. This was at 1750 CR. Now he plays at 2,5k far far beyond my reach. So people should just give it time.
