It is clear that these borrowed power systems can’t be balanced unless Blizzard nerf them into oblivion, make them irrelevant or limit their usage.
Everyone can see they are a disaster. And they shall just be removed at this stage.
Covenant abilities: consolidate the meaningful abilities and add them as level 60 talents. So players can choose and switch them freely according to their spec.
Covenants shall be kept cosmetic and lore only. Different covenants offer different looking sets/gear appearance and questlines.
Soulbind/Conduit: They are simply a design trap that offers no meaningful gameplay. They are a time sink for both developers and players. Players will spend time grinding those random passive proc stats. And developers will spend their entire time in expansion to balance them.
Blizzard still spends tons of their extra time to balance them for the delayed expansion. It is a total waste of time.
That’s the whole point really. The time they spent designing these ridiculous borrowed powers that are unlocked via mundane crap like assaults or farming AP, they could have made some proper content for us to play.
They should keep the system as it is but change it so every covenant gives the same class the same class ability and soulbinds
Now the system stays intact and ballance issues are gone completely
There is nothing wrong with the system, blizzard just overcomplicated it for themselves (and everyone else)
If Blizzard stops wasting time fixing these crappy systems, and actually spend some time in creating, polishing, improving quests, zones, dungeons, raids or BGs, we may have less bugs and more things to do.
The problem is not even the borrowed power itself, it’s what they do with it that is ridiculous. I just wish they improved artifacts expansion after expansion rather than scrap and replace. They are making things difficult for no reason
No you wont. How many hours you think average ppayer get from 1 extra dungeon? Like 30 minutes to 1 hour? That vs progression system with content worth of months of progress.
I agree with you. But if all the covenants offers the same class the same abilities, why not just make them into class talents (there is no new level 60 talents in SL) or spells?
Why create a borrowed system that only works in shadowlands expansion and only in shadowlands zones? We know that Blizzard has to re-balance all classes once again when Shadowlands is over, because the borrowed powers are gone.
Why not just make class talents, spells, rotations functioning and balance at the basics instead of balancing around short-term systems?
What we need is a good end game progression system.
The traditional end game progression was gear only. Characters unlocks all abilities, spells and talents at max level. And the only way for a max level char to get more powerful is better gear.
Legion offered another max level progress besides gear. We could farm AP to get more powerful through artifact weapon.
Shadowlands covenant abilities are not end game progression. They are just abilities you get right away at max level when you join a covenants. They are essentially max level talents but worse, because you can’t switch them freely.
Soulbinds and Conduits are just another boring and grinding max-level talent system that are worse than old glyphs in every way.
