I got kicked for being in fury spec as tank before i even had a chance to change spec.
You can’t insta-kick someone when a dungeon starts nor when someone joins.
Are you sure you didn’t have a chance to change spec?

We both know that this would just lead to “Kick me or I afk” after someone kills a certain boss they want. You think its toxic now, wait until you have to deal with a single persons ego.

Probably , Someone pull before he could change the spec =probably wipe and so the system allow the vote-kick .
I think the best implementation is to have it like LFG, where people can vote to kick but it doesn’t show other people or ask them to vote.
That way, if three people separately vote to kick you, without knowing others have, then you deserve the debuff.

Sometimes you just gotta take your deserter and go play an alt
Also, there are approximately a gazillion threads made in the last few months on this very subject, and about twice that explaining why it’s a bad idea.
Is it unfair? Yes. But there are far worse solutions, and not really any better

I think they should increase it to 24hours.
People then would not dare leave groups.
But remove it from kicks… kicking is punishment enough.
Which is the perfect environment for “I’m just gonna afk here, you guys kick me if you like”. But great idea otherwise…
You sure about that. You can’t kick anybody for 2mins after entering an instance even if you pulled and killed mobs.

Yeah people would not dare to leave, instead they could just alt tab away, fire up another game or afk and let rest of the party seethe, or kick you, in which case you get to avoid that 24h deserter anyway.
I think the complete removal would be a bad idea , the nerf to “how much time you get” would be a good idea , there is prems who kick for fun , or if you mess up a pull or even if you mess up as a healer some people just don’t really care and are toxic enough to just fast click the yes when the vote goes off , people tend to forget that players leveling are learning specs or roles , i would say make it 10 minutes or 15. the 30 min feels way too long for unfair kicks.

What i have seen is that such people like op they dont get kick instead after wipe they just leave the dungeon and get deserter buff but on forums they say they were kicked .
As the optics of leaving themselves look bad so on forums they say they were kicked . I have this case atleast 3 times on this character that i am levelling now . Tank goes in ,doesnot use his mitigation dies ,leaves the dungeon .the dps takes the same mob before new tank arrives kills it easily with my healing .

The answer to that is add a 10min afk timer doesnt have to be ten mins… im not really sure what appropriate time would be.
If they go over that 24 hour deserter
If they trigger afk timer twice in a dungeon
24 hour deserter.
As easy to bypass as bg afk timer, just keep hitting space every 4-5 mins.
Also inb4 “why no one joins pugs anymore?! where are the players”. No way anyone would do pug dungeons if it comes with danger of 24h deserter buff.

Pretty sure thats exactly what used to happen when the deserter debuff first came in for leavers. Tanks/healers holding groups hostage because they didnt like the random dungeon they got put in.
