Remove dungeon deserter debuff

Please remove Dungeon Deserter debuff. People pay to play the game. Why should they get a 30 minute ban just because their client DCed. They should get 30 minutes EXTRA play time as compensation for an unstable client not 30 minutes less. It’s not the players fault that client is unstable so why are they penalized?

Why is this even a thing??

But the client isn’t unstable. You’re either playing on a potato or have a bad connection, stop blaming your problem on others.

Stop being so self centred. The world doesn’t revolve around you.

The deserter buff isn’t perfect but it’s the lesser of two evils.

A disconnection doesn’t trigger the buff, it’s the players that weren’t willing to wait that voted you out. Some players will fake d/c on dungeons/content they don’t want to do. Personally I tend to give d/c’s the benefit of the doubt but if they don’t return within five or so minutes they usually get removed. It also depends what role you are in. Sometimes a group just can’t cope without the healer or tank for example.

I tend to try and find something else to do on the odd ocassion I get a deserter buff.

Like Dejarous I don’t have any issues with my WoW client. If you are having lots of problems you might want to read this article

If none of those steps work head to the Technical Support forum and ask for help. You may need to be patient as it’s the weekend and the Christmas period.

What’s the worse evil?

It’s interesting you mention that deserter debuff is worse if you play tank or healer. I’ve found that too. I suspect it’s a significant contributor to why there’s a lack of especially tanks in dungeon queues.

Thanks for letting me know the client isn’t unstable for everybody - I just assumed everybody had the same problems as I see people DC or complain about lag fairly often. For me it’s often cut scenes that lead to disconnects but it also happens at other times, especially when there’s a lot of people playing. The other day I couldn’t even log back on to a particular character after the dungeon crashed and had to play another one.

Horrible idea. It should stay simple.

Im all in for more player freedom and less “hurdur but now people gotta wait1!”

Why should I be able to abuse a group?
Im a healer.
I could stand there. Not a heal a single person. Use fade to make them pull all the agro and leave.
Then do it again to the next group. And the next. And the next.

And you propose no punishment.

One where tank hold a whole dungeon to ransom, sitting afk at the entrance. That was before we had vote kick.

Or getting rid of some toxic person from a group only for them to constantly pop back in it because there is no punishment and they queued straight back up again.

Or people constantly leaving dungeons they didn’t like because there is no consequence.

I have seen posts from people claiming the same thing but I am not in the know on how to fix it. Sorry.

because right now, kicking someone for the right reason takes 10 seconds, kicking someone undeserved makes someone lose 30 minutes.
if there was no debuff, kicking someone would still take 10 seconds for the right reason, and kicking someone for no good reason wouldnt waste someones half hour.

so kick tank, takes 10 seconds at most. same for the rest

The crucial part of that is quote is the ‘before we had vote kick’ :yum:

And then the troll joins the next group and learns nothing

oh yeah I agree, but now we do have vote kick so making it better would be neat.

ye but you’re not describing the full picture. do that, then compare stuff.
I did it already so ill quote

You only mention the one group.
You do not mention the collective time spent trolling people.

so in other words you’d rather have an innocent person lose 30 minutes, than innocent persons lose 10 seconds?

I would rather an “innocent” person lose 30 minutes than the game have literally nothing to deter ruining groups for laughs

except now you can ruin a person by kicking them for no reason, or kicking them at the very end of island expedition “for laughs” and they’re the ones getting punished.

30 minutes for an innocent person is not much.
if someone keeps trolling they might learn a lesson.

Plus I have only ever been kicked when I was completely useless.
Not kicked once since.

Most people on these forums who moaned they got kicked end up as someone who was not innocent. “I only pulled everything” “I only joined as a healer in the wrong spec” “I only died 50 times”

you seem frustrated …sorry to hear your bad experiences and about your trigger-happy vote-kick mentality

To be clear I have never voted to kick a single person in my total history of wow and have only been kicked 2 or 3 times within it.

This so very much!
