The people who leave because they don’t want a blemish on their raiderio or whatever would have already completed the dungeon in time, the people that might stay because they could increase their score with a narrowly missed run are less likely to be the people leaving to begin with.
I think giving full gilded + not showing up on raiderio if you failed a timer would definitely encourage some players to stay.
The key system has its flaws but not the main cause. The main cause simply is the pug community in general.
And I will plainly say that the pug scene is a toxic cesspool. In guilds, communities you can communicate and reason with people when stuff goes south and the key does become unsalvagable then finish it and complete the run on “good terms”.
Try speaking with a rando pug? → “no u. hahaha looool! /leaveparty”.
I’ve rarely pug and even more so when do it with my key. I used to have my “roflzmao tuesdays” when I could throw in my leftover key at pugs to see how much I can brick it down…for lols. The key will be gone tomorrow anyway so what I got to lose? I admit…I had good laughs…only sadly it was at the pugs instead with them.
I agree but you can’t change human nature, you need to mitigate the problems. Pugs will always be pugs, many M+ players are egomanics. So something like what i had mentioned would help, same as removing the actual keys themselves
That makes sense tbf. I do like the idea of untimed scores not showing up on io + full gilded together, not sure if it would be possible without removing untimed score all together. I guess the best way to find out is to try it to see if it has the intended effect
Indeed. Hence when I have to pug, I go in with the said above expectations. It “stinks less” when you are expecting the stink.
Hence all this complaint posts about “pugs leaving my keys, toxicity and all that bla bla bla”. Well…duh. Those are pugs. What did you expect? Guild/friend like sportsmanship?
If you enter the pug world. Expect to play by the pug world’s rules and they are draconically stacked against you.
Exactly this.
While i am also open to find good people in pugs that will stick around, i go in with 0 expectation about the pug people i am with.
The other day i was farming 8/9 with a friend and i instantly left the dungeon after looting the chest, my friend told me one guy typed “you need?” but given i was gone already that turned instantly into a “omg instantly left, truly autistic”.
Like, bud, if i left its because i obviously need the piece and i dont wanna trade. But sure, straight up insults
Your key, your choice. I prefer players that are a little more volatile but likely better.
But I’m doing 12s now and I think anyone that stays for a clearly doomed 12 is daft. There’s just no point. It’s not good for weekly and 8 is best for runes
Yeah but with a few minor changes they can drastically change the hellscape. Happier pugs, more keys, more engagement, more people buying tokens since our consumables are a gold sink.
Something as simple as removing the ability to brick the key would make it so much calmer.
“I don’t have to redo a key I don’t need (which may also fail) to try this again” I would even start running my own groups (I tank), that’s another group that wouldn’t otherwise exist
That’s fair. I’m mostly thinking of the perspective of someone who needs the loot from keys. Past 10 ofc there’s no point staying but if it’s finishable but slightly over for loot you do the decent thing and stay
Then you are in essence reducing the challenge. The race against time is what makes m+, m+. And I already argued with Lilith against making m+ a free “epic loot vendor”.
And if there is a challenge then it can bring out human emotions(and unfortunately not everyone is mature enough to manage them). Its not WoW unique, any challenging environment…pvp especially. People will lose their cool when they “think” that others are letting them down. Nobody loses their in a delve or a WQ cause honestly. You actually need skill to fail a delve.
So if there is content when people can actually fail then there will always be people who will stand in , die, flip out, blame his team, Blizzard, elitists, gatekeepers and so forth and start the cycle of toxicity which never ends…
I see. Sry.
As for the reply itself. Then it would open another way degenerative play = Forgot to do hero on 1st pack? Lets restart! That class X is doing only 4M aoe, Lets kick him and start again with a different class who can squeeze 4.5M at least. We pulled 1 pack by accident? Lets restart, need my 2/3 chest for this one. Oh this healer didn’t choose talent X while we don’t need it for this dungeon, meta pick is still talent X so lets get another healer instead.
Think I am exaggerating? People are already leaving on perfectly salvageable keys because somebody misspelled or tank overpulled. Having the “easy-restart” button hanging in front of you and tempting you all the time, will just make it worse…a lot worse.
those things could happen, but i see no issue. I would kick someone for not using BL (a personal hatred i have, so sick of asking and people don’t). I asked at the start of the key. 500k less dmg is unlikely to cause a kick. Restarting if the key looks to fail i would restart, aka accidental pulled pack.
And then everyone restarts and restarts and restarts and restarts kicks and invites tonne of people till they get their dream team A and their “perfect MDI copy-pasta” run.
If you believe this is an improvement.
