your solution is to not join groups that list using this option.
The ones who wanted masterlooter now have that same freedom of choice.
With how easy gold making was in classic (I could afford half an epic mount before I was level 40 on a warlock by just auctioneering off everything I found) I don’t really see this as a big issue as long as you know what you’re getting into behorehand. Seemed like a good solution for pugs esp the ones where they just pooled all the earned gold together and split it across the raid
Those guilds would collapse if the players would just leave it overnight, they don’t however, they stay for the BS, don’t punish good guilds because of the choices of weird loot councils and the masochistic players who put up with them (sorry if this sounds overly harsh but yeah)
If this happens in a guild situation it’s likely end of guild anyway, this doesn’t happen that often.
As for pugging, well, playing with strangers comes with an inherent risk.
Yes, it is. They can run, or FIND a guild who runs PL when ML is back. What’s stopping them? There’s clearly an audience for it so they shouldn’t have any problem all bandying together to make their little personal loot guilds, while the guys who want ML also have their own guilds.
It’s almost like choice is a good thing or something.
I’ve never seen ML go completely without drama, it happened in every expansion both with friends and in random guilds not to mention what it will do to pugging again.
Sure it can work but imo the current system (apart from not being able to trade higher ilvl in legendary slots etc) is better for the general health of the game and I really hope it doesn’t come back.
Would consider leaving guild if they decide to go for it tbh.
What made this game exiting in the past were human interactions. There wouldnt be any videos of people freaking out when someone ninjas a boss. As bad as it is, it made classic really intreresting. Its what made the rpg in mmo-rpg. Now…
In all my years of playing modern wow I have never seen a pug group that used ML. I have never seen a guild be dishonest about their practices with masterloot in the guild. For example wether trials are eligible for loot on their trial-run. and or -period. Many times people complain about lootcoucles. But there is no way to tell wether a bad players feels entitled to more gear or wether a guilds officers are actually corrupt from far away.
People who complain about master loot beeing used for scams are prbl. people who this happened to before. Its very transparent wether a group is using ffa loot of masterloot inside a raid (you can check the lootoption). Imo you’d have to be very young or very stupid to get scammed (happened to me when I was 13). But this does not happen twice to people. And honestly, its a good learning experience.
So for everyone involved its entirely optional. The worst thing that can happen to you is losing a single boss worth of loot in heroic and the ID for a week in mythic.
The downsides happen in the rarest cases and to the most gullable players. The upsides apply to every mythic guild and many organized heroic guild.
I think its ridiculous that people would rather have an artificially managed system than a system that is based on their own best judgement. Really shows how much people trust in their own judgement.
The thing with choice is that if you chose something and it goes wrong you only got yourself to blame. That what people dont like about it. People want the most power possible with 0 responsibility.
Tiers dont even last a year anymore. And if you hate the guild that much. Just make your own. If this happens to you in every guild… maybe you should look at yourself. You want to be mean to people, get in arguments and curse. And then get what you want from them. Sorry but that not how life works. Its time wow starts reflecting that again.
I remember my first raids, it was the obsydian sanctum and some leaders there just used to get as more ppl as they could, killed bosses, took the bag full of gems (and gold?) and just left raid with nothing, didn’t miss this at all
The thing I want is the ability to trade the gear I obtain freely. I don’t care if master loot comes back (and I don’t think it is, but changes to loot rules are). People who don’t want to be bullied into trading their gear, obviously can simply not loot the bosses and get their loot in the mail xD.
GDKPs are a good way of making gold, as all the gold that was bid on loot should be equally distributed between all members. So the system encourages those who are geared, and those who want to farm gold, to still participate, which is great. You can even do multiple non-mythic GDKPs in a week and just farm gold while raiding. It is a very good system for wealth redistribution.
I’m not in a guild, just running keys with a community.
I simply don’t like ML, as it can be well abused by those in power. Not saying it will be abused 100% of the time but the possibility is there to strip someone from their well deserved reward, which you probably wouldn’t like to see as much as I wouldn’t. It’s really just the hooman factor. Of course, a good RL can properly and well utilise it for a community’s collective good, but that’s a rarer case.
Are you a good friend of mine posting from an alt?
…but even if not, I’d definitely have such a stylish friend!
I am questioning what is well deserved and what isnt. Who decided that? You? Or do you simply cba argueing over lot ? Which is fine. But thats why its a CHOICE.
Some people think they deserve loot because they are part of a raidgroup despite a bad performance and other people think only people who play perfectly all the time deserve loot… the truth is somewhere in the middle.
And for people who are reasonable and good at communicating ML is a great system.
Because it prevents the folloing scenario:
You get a trinket that is absolute garbadge for your class and you dont want it. But you cant trade it. Thats a horrible feeling for me espcially oif someone else really needs it. Happens way too often in progress utterly preventable.
Well, then no better choice to vendor or DE it. But I do get where you come from PL without restrictions would do wonders here.
That’s what boosters do, but there, the currency isn’t a good performance, rather, it is gold. Or in an illegal case, IRL money (which can be very well punished).
Defeat the encounter > perform well.
And like you said, it’s indeed more of a middle route there, so do earn it - but I’d rather not scold say, a newcomer who isn’t that familiar with the game yet. The initial leveling won’t set them that well up for the endgame imo, and mistakes/bad luck do happen. You can never know.
That said, if the person is seen to actively be against completing the encounter, than they can be removed from the raid, however, the loot pieces they do get cannot be stripped from them.
(But that really is rare - and if they behave in an inappropriate manner, you do get to report them as well.)
The old “need before greed” is better than Master loot.
I would happily accept losing a “need before greed” roll to someone who just rolls it for transmog, than letting a person to decide loot distribution with ML.
Master Loot is the worst loot system possible, for of its lack of insurance.
PL > need before greed roll > ML. Let the RNG god decides, not someone else. faire and square.
