Hi, I would love to know just how Renown works if possible. I’m saying this because there’s so much misinformation online that it’s unclear what “caps” are in place. Two examples of the system not working below.
Scenario 1 (Me). Last week I become stuck at Renown 19 because I handed in my Weekly renown gain quests before I RNG caught up my character, effectivly turning off RNG renown drops… I had no campaign quest to complete and did over 30 arenas, 10 battlegrounds, callings each cooldown and other content without a single Renown dropping. I was told on Reddit this is by design because I did my quests in the wrong order.
Scenario 2. My warrior friend re-rolled Kyrian from Night Fae this week (Fearmedear-Sylvanas EU) and is now stuck on Renown 18. He has both quests ready to hand in for Renown 20, and will get the Renown 20 campaign quest, effectively allowing him to get Renown 21. But then as I was; will be “soft capped” at 21 renown until next reset. As (according to many others) the RNG system will be switched off if the Renown quests are handed in for that week.
Please can someone confirm if this is correct, a bug? Or just how the system works. There is no way that getting a Renown every 2-4 dungeons/BGs turns into not getting one for over 50 of either. The catch up system at the point is clearly inactive.
Can we please just have some clarity on this topic. Other examples of people having similar “issues”.
Thank you in advance for your responses. Would be great for us to understand any soft caps to Renown, the mechanics behind that and how to progress time effectivly.
There was a bug re the weekly quest handins, but that was fixed. There’s still a bug for some people who swap renown, but there are workarounds. However if he’s started getting catchup drops then that doesn’t apply.
I resubbed on Wednesday and went from 8 to 26 just now, the last 5 points took a bit longer though. I handed in my weeklies on Wednesday, so obviously not an issue any more.
Just remember to keep doing the campaign quests when they come up, then keep doing a large variety of content. It does seem to feel very hit and miss and RNG plays a big part but on my NF pala I have managed to catch up completely. I’m still working on my Kyrian and Necro.
Ye, basically what the vast majority of people who actually played the beta were saying as well.
We were told that we are elitist 1% that minmax the fun out of the game, but if you look at what people pick, in 90% of the cases is what a guide told them to.
