Hello, incase Blizzard representatives are watching this I just want to say that the right click report AFK player function (which did not exist in original vanilla) is easily abused in BG by other players to kick people on demand.
I was rolling into AV, and just as the gates opened and the BG started I was afflicted by the ‘‘Laziness’’ debuff, giving me 1 minute to enter combat or get kicked out of the BG, luckily I managed to hit a player in the Field of Strife on the count of 2 seconds left.
I’ve talked to a couple of people about it and they said its most definately a group of friends who signed up simultaniously to the BG, mass reporting me AFK to create space in the BG for one of their friends who didn’t make it.
Kind of lame if players are able to kick you out for 15 min on demand like that, just saying.
You also get reported AFK if you tell people to go to IB first so we get twice the honor, instead of rushing Drek.
Or if you have a 60% mount. Or if you do the trinket quest.
Yeah… I can already see people abusing this by mass AFK reporting competetive PvP rankers in their BG, in an attempt to deny them honor and locking them out for 15 min deserter debuff.
A guildie got kicked for “not participating” when trying to turn in a quest, inside the battleground itself. There would not be quests there if you were not meant to turn them in.
The current votekick system has no place in Classic. It’s very toxic.
Of course it’s the players, but the system in place allowes for suchs actions of behavior, when a couple of people is able to tag me for AFK and get me banned from the BG even before the BG have started, mind you; I ran out of the gates WITH the debuff on me. It’s a automated system which can easily be abused on demand by nefarious players, that’s my point.
I’m not sure what they could/should do, but it is pretty clear to me that this system can easily be abused, even by a group of just a few friends. In the future it might be abused to prevent someone from reaching a higher rank, by kicking them out and successfully locking them from BGs for 15 minutes.
While a report AFK system is good, like you mentioned earlier, there are abusers who will abuse a system without it aswell (AFKers), but the main issue with this system is that it has no human element, its automated and most likely knocks in if 2 or more players report you, especially if they do it simultaniously in a short amount of time.
There should atleast be some element into an automated system that checks if the player actually is AFK; like… Is the player moving? How much has the player moved the last 3 minutes? Has the player been in combat, or used any abilities for the last 3 minutes? Things like that… Because its appearant that this system has huge flaws when people are able to kick others on demand even before the battleground has started.
We could get them back if the Classic WoW community would truly make a stand and vote with their wallets and even more forum posts, and costumer support feedbacks!
I just want to chime in and add, not really related to this topic, but not entirely unrelated either:
I got booted from AV without any warning whatsoever tonight, the BG had started and my team and I rode past Balinda Bunker, I noticed quite a few players leaving the BG untill I was met with a loading screen, and back in Ironforge with a 15min deserter debuff completely out of the blue. Is this a known bug?
Btw this is an abuse of the system and you can make a ticket to alert a GM about it. Because it’s a bannable offense.
Just remember to include the time of when it happened.
