So, I’d like to know from someone who has a clue about this:
-How many reports does it take to trigger a GM reviewing?
-What criteria qualifies to receive a suspension (specific words,…)?
-How long can blizzard keep chat log (privacy laws)?
-Will the suspensions always increase in duration after the previous one?
-Do the suspensions ever ‘reset’ (e.g; you received 1 year ago 2 suspensions of 2 weeks, and this year another one, will this year’s one be 3 weeks or 1 week)?
Impossible to find any transparant info about this, especially because it can have such a major impact.
More than ever before in the history of wow accounts are being suspended. It’s really a genius move from a corporate view:
-They get an icnrease in their new customer attraction KPI’s as most ppl that get suspended just open a new account
-They generate extra revenue from in-shop character level boosts/new account revenue
-They can use their policy as ‘actively fighting bullying, discrimination’ and whatnot
Thanks to streamers like Zenlyn, the report system will never work in general. He is reporting every player when he is losing a round… u can just watch his stream.
How should Blizzard know if its a real report now or not, they don’t. Based on reddit people are just getting banned by multiple reports and I mean by that it must be A LOT of reports. There were several cheaters in DF Season 4 which got multiple reports and still playing to this day.
TL;DR: they don’t care about reports, only mass reports are counting
According to Blizzard statements, only one report is enough. But if more “unique” reports are given, it may land higher on the stack. They still get reviewed eventually though.
Anything may be against the ToS, Cheating, harassment, RMT, etc.
Several weeks. Generally, up to a month.
Yes.
As of this moment for several years, no.
A BNET account can hold up to 8 licenses. I sincerely doubt this is to boost their sales, as it is to curb behaviour.
And how likely would you be to shop at a store or game where you got penalised before?
They already have such a policy since the dawn of the game. Nothing has changed since then except the methods used to detect it and perhaps the differences in penalties issued.
Very? Everybody knows how easy the report system is to abuse, and thankfully if you do get suspended or banned, you just add a new licence and you keep pretty much everything, you don’t really lose anything at all.
Not many. Tends to start with an in game ‘behaviour warning’ pop up and then any subsequent reports within quick succession will trigger something.
Frequency of reports > content of messages. People get banned for having a Skyfury up macro in solo shuffle. As a general rule of thumb, if you think what you want to say could be reported, don’t say it. Always bear in mind it doesn’t matter how much people throw your games, or how much you report them for griefing, you are more likely to be punished for saying something than they are.
Really? Who is this “everybody” because the OP doesn’t and where do they get this information from?
For example, this player shaped the narrative he got banned for RP:
There are countless more of such posts on the US CS forums where players claim they got falsely banned, spam reported, etc etc.
Though, there were 2 unbans the past weeks - one for a false positive and the other had a review after being reported for minor spamming as he received a permanent ban for it, before that he received several weeks. The penalty was deemed too harsh and they got unbanned with a warning.
“don’t lose anything”? Are you sure? Is money infinite? The BNET license itself can only hold 8 game licenses… And Blizzard reserves the right to close down the BNET account itself if they think your behaviour is downright too toxic to keep.
The time and money one’d spend on it is not worth against the potential ban.
I see you’re going to disingenuously argue semantics now. Sure, just to satisfy you:
You ‘lose’ the real life money you spend to upgrade any new licence on a Bnet account. On the game, you keep all your mounts, you keep all your transmogs, you keep all your achievements. The only thing you don’t keep, is the characters on the actioned licence.
I’ve got an account on a permanent vacation due to ‘abusive chat’ from over 3 years ago. I added a new WoW to my bnet, kept everything I spent my time on other than the characters. Big whoopy doo.
I doubt these days most of ppl that enjoy the game would have no problem to dish out a 100€ to get an account and a boost. That’s peanuts money especially considering most ppl are well into their twenties/thirties and 100€ is not a lot of money.
I think 30…not sure tho… GM will not put any siginificant efford to bring justice in review, if he see a single bad Word in chat history, he will just carry on punishment.
I got silenced once because I typed OMxG in chat.
People who turned their profany filter off by purpose, shoudnt be able to report for bad language… because they messed with deffaults, and by clicking profany off means they AGREE with bad words… they are hipocrits when they report.
The profanity filter is not an excuse for you to swear as that is not allowed at all in the game. Even when they have it on, players tend to be funny and swear around it.
Disabling profany filter is source of evil… anyone who do this wont be able to report anyone for bad language.
If you are against bad language? why your profany filter is off than? gief one good reason beside you keep it off so you can report when someone salt you…
I know to behave…i never insult anyone… so its pointless to preach there, im just trying to pinpoint how report system is abusable and full of hipocrite reports.
And you are free by keep your settings on default…
It is exactly the bullseye point… Fact is people abusing repost system, and report system is bust… And ALL of them clicked profany off by purpose… Im not saying its good to curse or swear nor to encouraging someone to do this… but people cannot pretend to be holy popes when their own brain and fingers turned the shield down.
No examples of proven abuse has been given. Your opinion is not a fact.
You can’t pretend to be either by using your own brain and fingers to swear do you?
The only thing I see from your posts is “because the players do/n’t have a profanity filter, they may not report me for swearing (at) chat” while the rules are quite clear, no swearing is allowed at all in the entire game by players.
