As far as I understood in the interviews, ion only said that they are looking into it.
But for DF they wanted to make most of it Account wide.
If you read up on the DF faction renown, every gameplay unlock will be account wide.
But each alt needs to still grind renown for other unlocks like recipes and gear rewards.
In my books that is a whole lot better than not being account wide at all…
Also dragonriding is completely accountwide.
I have been asking for this for years in such threads as this.
I think it’s the better compromise solution. Some players enjoy have separate alts (for Lore / RP / Immersion reasons) and merging reps makes this harder. Having an addon or an option in the settings for merged / individual reps might work but not something I care much about.
The real issue is the rewards. Needing to re-grind a rep simply for a recipe or similar is just not a fun aspect of the game.

Just kidding, I bought FFXIV yday.
I am outta here in 13 days, when mine expires 
ye i play ff 14 i also play swtor i just dislike how with blizzard they just abandoned the older expansions after they break them if you put in new content breaks your old content it means they was not properly QA’ed maybe spend less on that fat f’ bobby k and more on hiring a QA team rather then developing a world they are obsessed with the latest expansion letting the previous ones fall to ruin obviously there no perfect mmo but blizzard seem dedicated to putting the least amount of effort
I also jumped back into FFXIV, getting the last of my jobs to 90 and finishing up any lingering quests, I kinda missed it.
Just want to bump this thread and say:
Pretty please, Blizz, I don’t want to have to grind the same rep/renown on my different crafting alts. Please make all rep/renown rewards account wide :>
For me personally, I would by far prefer if the rep/renown PROGRESS was also account-wide, so I could play several characters in order to max out a rep - But I get that that is a matter of preference.

Correct, I wasn’t completely informed.
Only the faction-themed ones from world events/treasures/challenges etc.
But renown will be account wide progression right? Or is that wrong info aswell.
So crafting recepies can just be bought on your alts.

This is what I’ve found on the beta section.
Edit October 11th: Having further tested this system, only the Epic Gear and Crafting recipes seem to be restricted to Character-specific renown.
Afaik, the renown progress won’t be account-wide - However, there will be a mild catch-up system, that will speed up renown gain for alts by a certain amount up to a certain level.

Maybe I’m over-estimating the grind or under-estimating how beneficial 100% and 200% boosts will feel, but I have to admit that my heart sank, when I heard that the progress was not going to be account-wide as I had thought

For those who have played GW2, I loooove the way they have account-wide progress for their mastery tracks: <Insert linnk to GW2 masteries here, because I can’t for some reason…>

I’m confused.
I thought in DF there weren’t any reputations, just renown and that the renown was account-wide and progressable on any character.
Am I wrong? If there are reps, what is locked behind them? Is making a profession alt army going to be yet another grind? Because I’ll just delete the new alt I made riiight now.
Edit: Just saw Puny’s post. Faster “rep” is good but… not what I thought was happening and I am disappointed already. Sigh.
