Reputation is NOT account wide it seems

That is the correct post, but yes in an interview Ion did say Renown was going to be account wide. If I recall correctly it was with Hazel or one of the streamers. I do not know of any reputations though.

For me it will come down to how the rep / renown is earnt. Will it be interesting content or will it be re-doing the same three WQs like in ZM. I did Zerith Mortis once (cypher, rep and the quests, not done the Proto synthesis thingy yet) but I didn’t do any of that on alts.

I’m probably in the minority on this forum, but I still firmly remain of the opinion that individual characters should mean something. So I’m against account wide reputation. The experiences of one character are not those of another. Let’s not forsake every single RPG element for the sake of lazyness.

Very good point! Maybe if the renown (Reputation ~= Renown for DF) is earned through varied and actually fun gameplay, such as dungeons, raids, pvp, crafting etc, then it might feel okay  Crossing my fingers.

But they are the exact same experiences. A rep farm. Nothing is different. However, I am glad it is an increase at the very least and the main unlocks are account wide.

I don’t agree.
If one character has met some new people and helped them, they’ll know and respect that character. The same can’t be said for another character that hasn’t done that. It’s a bit of realism and I like that.

Crafting recipes count as player power therefore are not Account wide.

So things like access to content and cosmetics and utility, all of that feels like it should be account wide. Linear narrative arcs are best experienced the first time, if you want to replay them on other characters, great, but we don’t want to force you to do that in order to access content or other key rewards or systems. The thing that remains a core character thing is gear progression, getting your items, leveling that up, mastering your role, mastering the gameplay of that class to earn better and more powerful rewards. All the rest, we’re shifting increasingly towards an account-wide space.

In Dragonflight, nearly everything will be account-wide – linear narrative will be optional on a second character. Dragon Riding will be account-wide as well, while things aren’t fully fleshed out yet, if your Dragon has learned extra talents or traits, we don’t want to force you to re-earn those on your alts. We know that many people are going to have 70 alts the first week of the expansion, and the system should be the alt-friendly one right from the beginning.

There is stuff that they have to figure out, but it should still adhere to the general account-wide philosophies that they’re trying to follow. Cosmetic rewards should be account-wide. Repeatable quests or extra zones should be account-wide, but a gear upgrade probably won’t be account-wide.

Blizzard the inept fails once again at doing something Swtor did since the start color me surprised

Why should legacy reputations become accountwide when not even legacy reagents are getting stack increased? The precedence is clear: Only new content get the new improved standard, old stuff remains as is.

All reputation, and renown including any type of currency should be account-wide imo. It not being the case is just some theoretical stupid idea from someone, who never played the game. I bet if any of those wow designers would level their grindy reputations 2 times on their own, they’d immediately change it. I can’t imagine anyone having fun to go through one of their huge rep grinds 2 times. That’s crazy, and simply hostile

Rewards from renown are account wide.
Everything that isn’t connected to Player power is account wide for DF.

The only thing of contempt are recipes. But imho those are connected to Player power even if only indirectly.

Therefore on any alt you already get a huge boost for renown acquisition and you only have to unlock recipes which will be easier because of the increase.

Dragon flying is completely account wide.

But recipes are so much less connected to player power than other things.
Gold, for an example. You can earn lots of gold on your main, then send it to your alt, so they can buy gear.
So, why not purchase recipes on your main and send them to your alt? Or for a more streamlined experience, just let them buy the damn recipe themselves, without having to grind rep over again xD

They could really mitigate the recipe thing by having one faction for blacksmithing recipes, one for Leatherworking, one for Tailoring etc.
Then you can do the Blacksmithing faction with your Paladin and the Leatherworking one with your Shammy.

Not gonna please everyone but it would help. Used to be more like this, the Thorium Brotherhood for blacksmithing as an example.
