at the moment?? if your moment is 6+ years. the best expansion released in the past 5 years is TBC. Think about that.
Clearly your feelings got hurt. It’s nothing personal, but I don’t need to hear how great coca is from an drug addict. Hence why I don’t even bother reading your small essay on why 98% of the community wrong but the last addicts right.
ofc always checking the latest xpac, this one being the shorterst so far. 1 month is already to much. I want daily or hourly subscriptions because there is just not enough worthwhile for a month anymore SADLY.
You can expect me in 10.0, i’ll continue to check and form an opinion on wow till it gets no content anymore.
I once had an ex partner point a loaded firearm at me, if you think my feelings got hurt over a computer game forum, you may be applying a bit too much importance to your opinion and how it effects me.
I prefer Pepsi, personally, but I know that makes me a weirdo, I am however, not addicted to any illegal narcotics and have not been for twenty years now. Cool try though.
You know that the length of Essay’s increase with your level of educational standards you are striving towards, yes? I mean you wouldn’t possibly be using the word ‘Essay’ just to mean “Lot’s of Words are Scary”…
Examines amounts of words
“Oh Wait, that is exactly what you did…”
You might want to look up what an Essay is, and the format they take, before using clumsy kiddy internet buzzterms like that, because if you think -That- was an Essay, then oh boy, University is going to kick you in the tushie!
Klaxon goes off
I’m sorry Sir, we seem to have someone making up percentages on the internet with no proof to validate them, can we ask them for a source?
“No Point, they won’t be able to provide one anyway”.
Good, me too. again, i’m not reading your small essay’s. I’m sorry again it’s not personal to you. It’s just my personal boundries. I do not engage with addicts of any kind.
Fair enough. Not long enough to be classified as an essay, but fair enough.
I rarely take things on forums as actually being personal, to be honest.
Ironically the reason I had a firearm pointed at me. Nor do I. She objected to my stance on the matter. At least she let me get dressed before leaving the house and never seeing her again, as indeed, I hope I never do.
I think in large it’s because of how FF is split between multiple loading zones, concentrating everyone into one area (least as you mentioned an ARR zone) which enables that feeling of being alive. Foolishly Blizzard still have sharding and layering going on, which absolutely removes the feeling of a world, and I agree, FF feels so much better like that when sometimes you can zone into Stormwind and it’s a handful of people, when it truth, it’s 100s spread across finite shards and you’ve just ended up on the newest and fresh one.
Certainly maintained, boosting groups are annoying, Duty finder is so much more better and given how jobs work, have no real population issues.
There are major lessons from making a world feel alive that Blizzard should take from Square, both fixed their engine limitation through different routes but I’d rather FF’s way than WoW’s.
The current gearing system has completely destroyed casual pvp, never thought I´d see this kind of stupidity from the developers, and my expectations are as low as they can get. Ion needs to go.
I gave up on high end content 3 expantions ago since then casual no presure and more important no drama, and now i play the game as it was intended to be play’d.
I mean…
Gear in WoW gets outdated every few months.
Skills gets outdated every few more months aswell.
Added systems than only remain there for a single expansion.
Every zone outside of the current expansion is useless.
NOO IT WON’T. Zoomies, you wanted classic and TBC servers and it was pants. You don’t know what you want.
Runescape in 2007 had people going “Housing would be sweet, cool, YEAH WOO!!.” , It died super hard in 3-4 months. And now is literally just a skill to level and that is it.
In-game houses on MMOs are dull as a brush. Keep it in games equipped for it, like Minecraft. JESUS!
You mean the literal same thing that happens in any other online game? What else is new? You have predators on Fortnite, CS:GO, Genshin Impact, Random Facebook games or any other place where you can communicate over the internet.
We all have to believe your word that several people told you stuff like that about FFXIV, but who is to say there isn’t much worse and more stuff happening in Goldshire or other places in WoW? My guess is that because of the community being more open there, that the trash and the rumours about it is more out there.
But even so, you’re basically delivering anecdotal evidence as facts, as you base it entirely on 3rd party references of which you might have gotten more from FFXIV because of aforementioned reasons. Whereas in WoW you might not have as many friends dwelling in Goldshire as much.
Just install Total RP addon and walk around Goldshire on Argent Dawn, there’s people around there with 18+ rated profiles, some added links to 18+ websites, some even with them linking to videos of themselves jacking off to WoW-characters.
Before you go ahead and call me one of his fans, I’m not. I picked up the game 3 weeks ago because I was bored with WoW and other games didn’t entice me either.
You’re comparing complete different styles of games, aside from that a fantasy game doesn’t have to abide to every single law of physics, strangely enough you bring up the Chocobo’s when in both games you have flying pigs or even whales(FFXIV).
It is a player base problem.
I made a community in-game that at some point had 1000 members, the majority treated it as a free boosting service as there were like 10~ actual good players that joined every raid and the rest was as casual as it can get. The leavers didn’t enjoy that we were taking our time getting through content with some even leaving in the middle of the raid after we wiped “once” on a boss because unlucky.
1000+ players is a small fraction of the entire playerbase but it is a good enough sample to base statistics on, of those 1000 I think only 50-100 was active in the community, the rest either just showed up during raid/mythic+ nights and/or never spoke a word at all.
It’s the same with guilds, it’s mostly the core group that usually consists out of RL friends, wives/husbands and or similar type of relationships that communicate a lot with each other. The rest is just filler, they come and go and if you leave the guild hardly anybody cares if you weren’t part of that core group in the first place.
The majority of the people in-game only communicate if they can get something out of it in terms of gold, gear, boosts or similar concepts. Communication in this game is for the most part purely based on greed, there’s only a small number of players that would strike up a conversation with somebody just for the sake of it.
I am one of the few players that actually does strike up conversations with random people sometimes and a few of those random talks resulted in me having a long-lasting friendship where I still talk to them up to this day. People should get out of their safe-space and talk to people for the sake of it rather than out of some necessity borne from greed.
But even if they would remove it, the game dies if it didn’t have sharding. Because it can’t stand 10 players being in the same area without significant fps drop.
I joined hunting parties in FF. Even though, there are maybe 200 people attacking a single world boss type thing, You can actually use your rotation while It’s laggy. You can move and do your actions.
In wow, You just freeze. The game can’t handle too many.
But what happens in FF14, is that i can still use my rotation and move around.
While In wow, you freeze. Your character freezes. your abilities freeze, and the boss freezes, only to suddenly see everything that happened in the last 10 second instantly in one go.
I think that’s a computer issue, not a game issue, I know exactly the thing you are on about that, I get that in WoW too, but equally it happens in FF. Everything freezes, you can use your icons, but nothing damned happens, then suddenly it was like you froze time then unfroze time, and either everything around you is dead, or you are!
Yeah, lot of that is down to absolute mass of variables having to be calculated at once.
Though I am going to vehemently disagree on FF14, both engines suffer from the same issues, when loads is on then both absolutely chug.
It’s something no game has ever managed to fix. Older MMOs did an alright job (DAoC could get a 200 or so before it started to crash) but the newer engines with far more complex systems, with more actual variables going on, have simply not been up to the task.
I prefer Squares solution of zones separated by loading areas rather than sharding as used by Blizzard.
Done mythic raid? Pvp? Thorgast? Collected all mounts? Transmogs? Every dungeon and raid achievement? So no you didnt do nothing, and btw for M+ you dont need the best legendary, and ye if you are bad at your class blizzard cannot do anything about that.
Wow has almost always been raid or die, to an extent. I think there is a flaw that they have some of the best raid designers who are also designing the main game though. There is so much untapped potential in WoW that is left on the table, and so many wrong turns they take.
The one thing they do really well is raid design though, raid design for the best players that is. When I did Castle Nathria I started a little late and thought Normal/Heroic were just not that fun, but we started working on Mythic and the bosses were so good, not perfect but we had such a blast working on those bosses.
But for damn sure the game is lacking so much in so many areas and I think the solutions are obvious as plain daylight, but tumbleweed on that front.
