I made a post some months ago with a concern that given how they will release WOTLK based on patch 3.3.5 there will be one feature available on WOTLK that won’t be on Classic WOTLK: The option to solo Onyxia level 60
Please, Blizzard, reconsider this. Do not remove level 60 Onyxia. One of the fond memories I have of WOTLK was to solo old raids. WOTLK was the expansion in which was possible for some classes like mine, Paladin, to solo old raids, and it was fun, so much fun. Because back then some encounters were possible to solo (not all of them) but unlike today in Retail those kinds require some challenge, it was required to play the encounter to avoid dying, while now in retail most solo encounters are an easy roll in which you kill the boss on one shot.
I want to go back to Classic WOTLK and solo Kharazan, Zul’aman, Zul’Gurub, Molten Core, AQ40, The Eye, and Onyxia having the challenge it has back in the original WOTLK. I do not want to wait until Classic Cataclysm to solo Onyxia with challenge again.
I am not asking to make any changes. Level 60 Onyxia was available for the most part of the expansion. It was not until the end when level 80 Onyxia was added that the level 60 version was removed. At that time I was able to go weekly to kill her every week, and I want to do it again. That is why I ask for Onyxia 60 but I do not say anything about Naxxramax 60 because the second one was never part of WOTLK.
Please, restore it. You have the data already on Classic TBC.
The same I got out from it when I did back in WOTLK. Fun. I know is a weird concept in 2022 when everyone plays just to maximize what they get, but there are still people that want to play for fun.
No one force you to do it if you don’t want. You could be tired from doing Onyxia 60 in Classic, but I have not solo Onyxia 60 since 2008 or 2009 when it was removed.
There are many old videos on youtube showing people soloing Onyxia 60 back in WOTLK. It was during WOTLK when soloing old raids started to be a thing and as I said I have fond memories of it. It is one of the things I want to do again on Classic WOTLK.
Back then soloing was challenging, you can see how the video took 9 minutes to kill her, unlike current Retail in which everything you can solo in just one hit. I do not want anything for those solo encounters, most of them do not drop anything useful because there is no transmog yet except 2 or 3 that can be solo for mounts. I want to solo for the fun of doing it, fun that does not exist anymore in retail.
Right now on the Beta Onyxia is 80 and if it will launch that way she will be a source of very strong gear from few phases ahead. It’s unlikly it will launch this way, but if it will then just farm the OP gear and meme on Blizzard…
