Just perusing the raider io website and looking at class population and paladin accounts for 15% of the total runs recorded on their site,
7% Protection and 7% Retribution.
After watching my friends Retribution Paladin pulling over 140k DPS + with such ease I can see why people are playing them now, As someone who has played a Prot Paladin since TBC a lot I feel that they are bordering on the broken class stage, with the damage from Divine Storm, I mean 1 button and i saw literally 50k + crits on 5-6 mobs seems a bit crazy…
Makes me wonder why I am bothering struggling with my Destro Warlock hardly see 50k crits from rain of fire on large packs xD
Yes I am a little envious, But just wondering if anyone else has seen paladins basically blowing up in M+ and pulling 200k DPS within 3 seconds of a pull happening and if so do you think this is a little imbalanced, Feels like Fury Warrior’s all over again from Shadowlands with Bladestorm but in Paladin form.
Can you just… keep being proud of your friends 50k + crits on 5-6 mobs and let us enjoy the game.
Destruction Warlocks, yes they need some serious buffs/reworks but if you hardly see 50k dps on large packs with a Destro Warlock, this is neither Ratribution Cryladin issue nor Destro Warlock.
That’s a baby Divine Storm. I get more than that on my Ilvl 408 Ret.
50k crits Rain of Fire would be completely broken though. RoF ticks about 10 times. That would be 300k damage on average with a 20% crit chance. Which is about 3 times the damage of Chaos Bolt even in single target situations.
i have seen few pumpers this season already and honestly it doesnt matter what class they play they pump.
yes retri is bursting like crazy atm but then move retri paladins i saw did horribly bad numbers because it were clearly bad players who rerolled because meta.
the problem i have with people hwo burst is they do it mindlesssly making it horribly hard to keep agro when on undergeared tanks in 11-12. which means that people who burst like that 200k usually suicide themselves because they get globaled but trash / bosses
want example ? today in 11 BH i have both spriestand lock pumping on first boss when i was on 405 prot warrior. i could only wish them gl with their kiting because it took me forever to retake agro of those 3 mobs
I don’t know but i saw balance druids doing 250k opener…monks doing 300k aoe
I don’t see paladin being special
Population is high because blizzard finally LISTENED to us and did something with that spec
Ret paladin was garbage since end of LEGION my friend so of course lot of people will play reworked version
i myself finally enjoy playing my old main
he beats me Single target, i beat him AoE, but in our lower keys he barely got any damage off as they were dead quick, once u get higher keys though, the lock damage has time to build and he gets closer
You also need to take into account tier pieces etc atm, im still 1 piece some people on full 4 piece sets now already
Im a nice Ret, I have the unbound freedom talent, that when used on ally, gives it to me as well, so i macro’d to to use on my warlock mate so he never has to worry about Entangling again
Ret’s burst damage is very strong, but tricky to actually make use of without dying to pulling aggro. And my overall in keys is pretty similar to the fury warrior I run with.
Prot is currently the strongest tank, but that’s no different than vengeance DH being the strongest tank in SL s1, or guardian druid in SL s2, or blood DK in SL s3 and s4, or prot warrior in DF s1. No matter how hard they try to balance tanks, there’s always one that’s ahead of the others in performance, and all the top pushers and FOTM rerollers switch to it, which puts it a long way ahead in representation. Next season, it will be the turn of another tank class to take the lead.
I dont think rets all that meta, nor the strongest lol.
Its tier set is a big fall back for one. And 140k dps, isnt hard to achieve in AoE. Plenty of classes are very capable of this.
Ret is strong sure, but not overpowered.
However i do wanna take a moment to express this.
Paladins have asked for changes for 6 YEARS, theyve been poor in balancing in both raids and m+ consistently for 6 YEARS.
Is allowing them one season without running to the forums to screech their broken that hard. In pvp i get the complaints if something is broken. But in pve? Why. Allow them their moment in the sun.
Threads like this would amaze me if it not for the fact every since year one Blizz’s attempts at class balance have always ended up like this. So Pala is the new Rogue they can enjoy it for a while
i don’t think ret is overpowered because the single target is pretty low , and the problem is not the classes that are doing good, it’s the ones that suffer. they should make all classes viable
considering how much troubles i had in SL to do m+ as retri and how i was usualy taken out of pity (with more then few people openly saying they only took me because they main retri too and know how hard it was ) i say let them have fun for this season .
Isn’t destro is actually quite good in m+ this season?
Why you prioritize rain of fire as your main damage in AOE situations?
Do you know that set bonus will drastically help you to do more damage?
You can check rotation on warlock’s discord and/or kalamazi’s website
And get yourself irideous fragment, great trinket for bursting, easy 100k+ numbers just by using it in burst windows.
