Returning player mostly interested in epic battlegrounds

Sorry, I haven’t done any PvP at all this expansion - not that I ever do much - but I can suggest this thread, which overlaps with your question a bit

Returning player: gearing

The game is very different to what i remember, the systems are slightly overwhelming, once 60 can you gear purely from pvp?, from bgs and casual arena, when i played there was vendors, you got the currency from pvping and bought what you wanted, is there still such vendors? if so is the gear you get valuable or do i need to run pve content to get the best gear for pvp?
