Returning player to classic. Yes, this is how an MMO should be

I played vanilla World of Warcraft back in the days and stopped playing when the expansion Mist Of Pandaria was released. I could not go with the level tokens, dungeon and raid finders. This killed the social aspect of the game for me.

Today i am a bit older and have a full-time job, but I wanted to give classic a try. And yes, I absolutely love it. I even convinced my non gamer girlfriend to give this game a try.

I think this is how an MMO should be. Mobs taking longer to kill, quests are challenging and leveling up your character feels rewarding. No dungeon finder, no raid finder and exploration is part of the game again.

I really hope Blizzard stays true to the vanilla core, what makes classic so damn good. The ultimate path for me, would be to add more content and expand the game with updates, but stay close to the core. The way OSRS does.

Cheers everyone. Keep safe and healthy

Classic already rotten and corrupted? I haven’t discovered it’s flaws yet. My only concerns is the path the development team will follow. I cannot believe how many topics are created to add for example: dungeon finder. This i what kills classic and my main reason for creating this post.

It is really beautiful game, when you are exping and not minding endgame. But the game has bots, exploiters, min-maxers and any other internet scum you can think about. I would recomend you to find a nice and cozy guild and do not pay attention to classic justice bots

Not really minding the exploiters and botters. Sadly enough they existed back in the days and still are today. It does not affect my experience as i have right now.

Exploiters could be issued in feature updates and active reports. I’ll be an active player as long we stay true to classic

Many decisions Blizzard made have lead to classic being much more different than vanilla and Nostalriuslike private servers. The two major things being a release that permanently put a dent on realm populations, and very straight forward 1.12 version with basically only content locks.

Classic feels very similar to a 2008 private server that ran patch 2.4.3 with lvl 60 cap. Barely possible to wipe in raids, no progression except raid unlocks.

Altho this is stil more fun than the last 10years of retail crap.

I’m sad to tell you, classic have little to do with vanilla.
blizz ruining stuff as usual(huge servers, layering etcetcetc), and the community changed so much in minmax gaming.

Its still fun and better than most expansions tho

Oh my Lord, are you saying there are minmaxers who like to play with each other to achieve the best possible outcome? Thous bastards! I don’t know what is best, 10spelldmg epic or 30spelldmg blue. Ban hammer incoming!

Whole lot of negativity here. Although of course this is the wow forums so what do I expect.

Welcome back to the game and glad you’re enjoying it.

Classic wow an real MMORPG? u must be joking, the game is filled with bots that gold farm… there are even leveling bots. U wont find the mmo expierence anymore this day on retail classic, especially if ur an new player. U wont find dungeon groups , they rather u pay for a boost which is not the true expierence. Classic retail wow was fun the first months… but right now classic wow is just not new player friendly anymore. Blizzard also does nothing against those bots.

How is the game any less social? The massive scale servers and cross realm battlegrounds makes it no more social than retail, private servers were far more social than this abomination they’ve made.

Mobs don’t take longer to kill unless your rotation stops and starts at pressing heroic strike, what takes longer is the time you are not playing the game such as travel, mounting and regen. Quests are not harder unless you are trying to solo some 5 man group, if that is the case you have 3 classes which can solo group quests well above their level. Leveling is not at all rewarding, I’ve spent more time farming a single item than I’ve spent leveling a character, the leveling is nothing more than a repetitive tutorial you are forced to do if you want to play the game.

You don’t have dungeon finder nor raid finder but the equivalent exists for pvp, and the actual content is easier than dungeon/raid finder.

And someday you level past 13 and escape brill.

Cmon, it doesn’t mean anything to a fresh player with a fresh mind like the OP. Mobs are tough. Quests are tough. There is room for exploration. There is social interaction.

Glad to hear you’re enjoying Classic, OP. Don’t let the grumpy disappointed people to ruin the feel.

Quite some negative vibe around here. I know leveling bots exist. I know the game has it flaws. Still, I am enjoying the classic experience and fully want to support the future of it.

The biggest turn-off when it comes to retail are the raid finders, leveling tokens, reputation grind, daily quests and weekly caps.

As long as they keep far away from this kind of patches, i’ll keep supporting Classic. To me , classic is a much better experience as retail. And when it comes to the social aspect of the game, it is up to us, to make a much more friendly userbase. I had a great social experience so far.
