Things like these just fuel toxicity in MMO’s just look at League of Legends, CSGO and Fortnite.
Just remove these features and make this game into an actual RPG again.
Thanks.

WoW’s E-sports is slowly sliding off a cliff by itself already.
RIO is just a result of making ilvl meaningless (or unclear). It’s just a tool that exists to filter out bad players with high gear. If bad players couldn’t get high ilvls it wouldn’t have existed.
And rating, well, sorry, it’s the base of competitive PvP. The only problem is the rewards being locked behind specific ratings.
The worst thing about topics like these is that they just whine about certain features, but they offer no solution
You say remove, but how would those game modes work without rio or rating? How do you decide who to invite to your key if you don’t see any information about the player for instance?
Elaborate on your solution, then we will get somewhere maybe.
Before RIO we looked at ilvl, before that gear score, before that achievements, before that we inspected people… this has always been part of the game. Removing RIO would change nothing.
Reward ilvl based on time invested.
People don’t play RPG’s for a challenge, they play it to waste their time on something in the game that feels fulfilling.
You mean number of hours? Like an hour counter in the game, how many hours you spent in certain dungeon or something?
I only play this game for challenge, you shouldn’t decide why is someone playing the game based on your personal preference.
Way better games out there to play if you want a challenge.
WoW is not it and never will be.
As I said, it shouldn’t be your concern why someone else is playing the game.
I have yet to understand what system do you have in mind to put in place of rio score that would allow you to see if a person has the capacity to do a certain key level.
Looking at your post history you strike me as someone who shouldn’t be playing an RPG in the first place.
I’m not blaming you, but Blizzard.
It was never really like this, why change it now?
It actually was. Classic > Wotlk, golden era of WoW.
How do ratings stop you from playing a role?
Stop gatekeeping, and just try for a second to defend the position you have taken on this thread.
Again
What system do you have in mind that would sufficiently replace rating and rio?
Farm X amount for Y item, then X amount for Y upgrade
And how do they stop you from playing a role?
Farm farm farm farm.
Sooo wanna check the top guilds on Classic and see how they feel towards the “meme specs”?
You really wanna throw stones in a glass house?
How do I make my pug team for a +15 key without any kind of scoring system? How do I pick players, based on what?
Classic has it’s flaws but if class balance was a thing back then things would be different.
