Rise of botting in Anniversary less than 2 weeks after release

Logged in early to sneak some quests and xp in, manage to get myself to Stranglethorn Vale to see that it is absolutely amock with bots, i mean lots. It is that bad that it has took me 2 hours to complete the kill 10 baby tigers and panthers, making it nigh on impossible to quest, play the game and enjoy it. You are able to tell they are BOTS as they are all level 34 troll mages with very similar names. Like i said, less than 2 weeks in and my motivation to play this has took a turn now knowing bots are ruining the experience.

Gold price will be high to start with I assume so they will be out in force tyring to make some pennies.

I find the state of SOD botting pretty funny, they are everywhere you look basically.

The big line of bones leading to BRD from dead bot hunters is like a cookie trail to follow

And there’s clever one’s that don’t go in the front way, they do a jump hack and fall through the mountain, constant stream of them.

The office pencil sharpener could spot and remove these bots, but not blizz

They should just sell blizz gold /lower token /sell fully geared account in the shop and stop botting.

Top tier /max level /best items you can get / all skills maxed out $700

HEY shareholders your missing out on all that money - stick more stuff in the shop! You must need a new plane or something? Money is knocking at your door, shareholders…will you answer? lol

were you one of the ones who thought no gdkps would stop bots? :face_with_monocle: people still need gold to buy everything else. others just can’t be bothered leveling and know that botting their way to 60 wont get them banned.

take this as a good lesson to not take everything at face value.

Report the bots - and keep doing so. If you give up on that, you are also giving up on the bots.

If people don’t buy any gold at all, it’d dry up pretty fast and maybe end up with one shady advertiser on the realm tbh.

As for the why they don’t instaban obvious botters with manual GM’s, read more on the material below:

For example in another F2P game Valorant & League this is explained in more detail why it is so difficult:

The botting problem is prevalant in all games/MMO’s, not just WoW. If there was a solution there would be one by now.

An ex-dev that worked at Blizz:

You may suggest any methods you may think of through the ingame feedback box but it is not likely that it will be groundbreaking new suggestion.

Wow you mean to tell me all the clowns who tried to blame GDKP for the botting issue and gold seeling were just talking complete nonsense? Who would have thought.

Yeah

GDKP sucks

Bots suck too

…Or hang on, y’all GDKP lovers be trying to score a point over bot haters?

Both suck, your equally sucky bots and GDKP lovers

Pair of suckers, sucky suck suck suck suck

I’m not sure even the most GDKP hater would think it was the sole cause of bots

I’m not sure how closely Blizz monitor in game gold transactions, but if you sell a random thing to someone for say 800gold how would blizz know you didn’t organize that off line on discord to pay for a GDKP item/raid in game?

No chat in game, always use a proxy item for representing the one from raid and simple trade gold that way

It’s doesn’t seem overly complicated to get around blizz “ban” on GDKP /shrugs

I must be a criminal mastermind

/muhahahahahahaha

anyhooo… yeah…bots suck and GDKP sucks

Pretty closely as it turns out. People got banned on SoD for exactly this sort of plan.

I love that GDKP protectors are saying “and you think its GDKP?!?! Lololol” - it is. Without bots, most of the gold used in GDKP would not exist.

The two go hand in hand.
Sure, some GDKP used less gold overall but lets not kid ourselves and try seperate botting and GDKP. There is no seperation.

im personally not interested in gdkps but this is just not true. even when faced with evidence of how prevalent botting still is on the fresh servers you can’t admit that the gdkp ban is nothing more than theatrics. atleast 1/2 of the ‘players’ leveling are botting.

gold won’t be as easy to come by sure but that’s just an illusion. you can buy 12g rn for 5 gbp (£)… if people can’t buy gear they’ll just buy other things to make getting gear easier.

GDKP isn’t that just a part of the problem? DKP, I guess, was a part of the vanilla feel of the game. But the game is so much more than boss loot.

I’m worried about the whole economy. Mats for crafting and consumables.

Two days ago the price of light leather on the AH was barely above vendor price. Then all of a sudden (yesterday) every piece were five times higher. Multiple sellers, but all same price.

Market economy has good mechanics. But when bots and/or greedy people start playing the system and results in stupid prices… That in turn makes people want to buy gold… That’s breaking the game as it takes the option of not having to collect every little piece of stuff you need off the table.

I’d rather the game economy go all babysitting and communist, or whatever you want to call it. At least for mats and consumables - with minimum and maximum prices through AH, or even vendors like the ones used in betas. But of course with adjusted prices, maybe even fluctuating on both selling and buying, a bit like the garrison trade post vendor.

Because it’s better for everyone that the game doesn’t go pay-to-win with third party people winning. That’ll not give money to Blizzard for developing the game. (Not that money to Blizzard doesn’t also end up in some people’s pockets rather turn into more/better game.)

At least it’ll be better for me.
I don’t want to play a game where buying gold is the only way to get to the end game in a fashionable manner.

Retail is too much, too complex and always need to get yourself updated. Not fun.

Don’t let this new Classic break. Please.

Best way to fix this issue, is to unsubscribe and mention the botting situation. Only way they’ll listen, is if you hit them in the pocket.
