I highly doubt that. Or do you just mean the last Alliance Raiding Guild that you are told you should care about?
Place the blame where it lies. People transferring Factions for FoTM Racials to defeat certain bosses, and then the sheep that follow them.
Nah it ain’t.
By definition, it is not the ‘Elephant in the Room’, because that refers to a situation that no one talks about. Trust me, as a long time user of these Forums, for some people there is nothing else they seem to be able to -do- than talk about it.
When people use that phrase ‘Cancel Culture’ (Especially given some of the types that bleat about it) what they actually mean is ‘Freedom from consequences’ Some of these people get their news from Breitbart despite knowing that it is often factually incorrect and distorted.
They often go on about "OMG, I can’t say X because of ‘Leftists’ or ‘Woke’ culture and other such ridiculous phrases, without realising that those terms were only invented by over-entitled who think their opinion is so important that everyone -has- to listen to it, to hells with what they think. They don’t realise that they have the Freedom of Speech, but they do not have (and no one historically has had) the Freedom of Consequences from that freedom of speech. Try to explain to them that censorship is nothing new in history and never will be and they simply won’t listen but jam their fingers in their ears going “nope! It’s the Leftists! It’s Cancel Culture, It’s Wokism” Without realising how juvenile it sounds. Fortunately for them, they generally -do- live in countries where they have the right to say what they want, and healthy society has the right to ignore them, listen to them, or if they go too far, to make sure there are consequences for what they say.
This.
It really is that simple.
What if people main both? You can have two Mains you know, dividing your time equally between factions.
But the thing is, People are so easy to sell outrage here that nobody actually stops and looks at facts, just what they get told. The Alliance actually have stronger racials these days (Check out Mag’har and Nightborne if you want to see some truly dire racials ) Horde racials get nerfed all the time, so do Alliance ones, but at the end of the day the problem is these people trying to gimp the system, who then encourage others to do the same, and you end up with this state where everyone has this bizarre impression that Horde racials are better, even when they aren’t, and it does become harder for Alliance.
Thing is, that isn’t Blizzard being Horde biased. The Racials are ever so slightly biased towards Alliance. It’s us players who made this problem.
Look at the precise article this is all about. There was a game mechanic that gave a clear and unfair advantage to one particular race. What happens? A whole Guild race changes to Dwarves to exploit that advantage. Where’s the faction loyalty in that? Do you think they’ll stick around when there is a boss mechanic that slightly favours Blood Elves say, or Tauren? These people don’t have any Faction loyalty, they simply do not care about anything apart from min-maxing and trying to bork the system.
That is figuratively like someone who supports a football team, but if another football team comes higher in the League, supports them instead, until a different team comes higher in the League, when they change to that one.
Should Blizzard be catering to that market?
Ideally no it should not. And it doesn’t.
The difference is, some people are easily swayed by league tables and -will- change who they support, based on which allows them to gimp the system.
In fact the football team example is a good one, because consider this.
Scenario a) There is a perception that Horde have better racials, pundits say so, so people flock to Horde, Streamers feign outrage (Because that makes them money) and as a result more and more people flock to Horde. As a result, Alliance Raiders find it harder to put together a good team. The game suffers as a result.
Scenario b) Football team X wins the Football League, all the fairweather fans of team Y start supporting team X instead, team X as a result gets better ticket sales, more revenue and can continue to buy better and better players, ensuring that they keep winning and more people support them.
Now in scenario b) who is to blame? The Football League, or those people who ditched Team Y for Team X?
Well, thank you, and the feeling is mutual. Anyone can see from my stuff (although I am in my RP kit on the armoury right now, Yes, yes, I know my transmog looks -amazeballs- ) that I don’t massively raid, in fact I haven’t even touched anything this Expac, But I do know a lot of people heavily into the Raiding scene, and that’s where I am kind of getting it from, They’re cussing out the big raiding guilds for deserting factions at the drop of a hat, not cussing out Blizz.
But I am open to the idea that I am wrong.
