With access to tier 0.5 quests rogue Darkmantle set is OP and equal in power to AQ gear. And it is probably the only one that really stands out from all 0.5 tier sets.
So, there’s a lot of speculations that rogues are going to be top DPS class in the game.
Here I want to point out a few things that won’t make it a reality for most rogues.
Top items like helm, shoulders, chest and pants are hard to farm because they mostly drop from the last bosses of top-level hardest dungeons.
Quests to upgrade the set are difficult.
They require grouping up with other players who have no interest in their set upgrade.
They require a lot of gold which at the beginning of the game will be sparse.
Devilsaur set removes the use of gloves and pants.
Bracers and the belt are the weakest pieces hence to maximise the power a rogue would need to complete the last part of the upgrade quest Saving the Best for Last is the most difficult park involving summoning a very hard extra boss in UBRS.
Items that BOE bracers, belt and gloves will be very expensive on the AH too.
Based on my own experience it takes a long, long time to complete and some gear from the raids will make it very difficult to match the 4 pieces. So if you’re planning to be a top dog rogue think trice to go for it.
These all drop from dungeons, dungeons are easy to clear and it’s only RNG that will hold players back from getting them but at release your going to have almost everyone farming these dungeons for pre bis so getting a group to farm these will be easy.
They ain’t difficult, they just require some expensive materials. Other than perhaps the last part of the quest in UBRS as that boss could be challenging being under geared but not impossible.
But they do have an interest in doing the dungeons and the faster the better so doing the speed run in Strat UD should raise no objections or killing the boss in UBRS either as he drops some really nice loot.
They do require gold but you’ll accumulate gold whilst levelling and while farming the T0 pieces.
Doesn’t really matter, you get the set for the set bonus not individual pieces.
Yes, it’s a tough encounter when under geared but for that quest you would bring friends and guildies, the rest can be done without.
Again, gold isn’t that hard to come by especially for a Rogue who can farm BRD alone or do some stealth runs for Rich Thorium in Silithus on top of the gold you’ll make farming dungeons for your T0. Not to mention the people who will buy gold and since Blizzard never acts there will be plenty, believe me.
It does take time to complete but you are getting a set equivalent to AQ40 gear so if it takes a few weeks then you still have the equivalent to gear that most folks won’t have till 5-6 months down the line and since it’s so good that will be your main focus.
The Darkmantle 4 piece proc (this is what people are hyping up, I guess?) seemed very overrated. Go on the beta and test against the target dummy, it doesn’t proc very often at all. Good rogues will be good dps in raids regardless of if they go for Darkmantle or not I think, but they’re also overplayed and undesirable for group content so keep that in mind.
Oh wow! Require grouping up…with players…jeez. How ever will I finish Fras Siabias Tobacco quest when noone else in the group is interested. And what about that Onyxia quest? Seems over.
True.
Not necessarily.
Absolutely not. You’re just making up weak arguments to support your point.
Yeah, oh wow it’s difficult.
All in all, this just reads like some kid who’s explaining why he should get to play with 8 cars when the other kids don’t have any. You’re basically saying it takes some work and costs some gold and therefor we shouldn’t worry. It’s like saying very few will get the epic mount. Meanwhile the rogue population is looking to be 20 % on some realms.
It could take you a long time if you do 1 dungeon a night. If however you power through 6-8 hours a day of clearing until you get it, you’ll get there relatively quickly.
I think people who go farming those 2% drop rate epics are crazy - but you run the dungeon enough, its probably going to show. (Unless you get screwed.)
The major reason that set is strong is because of the energy boost you get, everything else is sub-par to T2.
And even that energy boost is only a marginal improvement over T1, we are talking like 5-10% dps increase. Compared to T2 it is more like 1-2%. Most people are not even able to play the Rogue well enough to benefit from that.
