Idk about that. It’s kinda contradicting your other comment, that spam CS can be fine. Cause if CS has to cost 100 enery we literally can’t even afford the 2nd CS if we dare to press 2 other buttons between the 1st and 2nd CS

That was the point I was making, yeah. You’d still be able to Cheap Shot an entire enemy team, or Cheap Shot one person 3 times, but you wouldn’t also be able to fully send 90% of your PvE rotation into the back of someone while doing so.
You’d still have Kidney Shot to set up burst windows. You’d also still have Thistle Tea.
That’s what I’m saying though… You WOULDN’T be able to Cheap Shot an entire team or one person 3 times if it cost 100 energy
Sure, you’re right we have thistle tea, but do you really think it’s a good idea to make our stun so expensive, that we need to use our entire resorce bar and a thistle tea charge to pull it off?
People use thistle tea for the mastery buff, not the energy. You might think this would be a fair change, but it’s awful gameplay
I mean, I ballparked 80-100 specifically because I haven’t played a Rogue myself in a little while, and I’m not entirely up to date on what effects and passives you currently have to reduce its cost.
Either way, getting hung up on any one specific number was never my point. My point was to make Cheap Shot’s cost prohibitive enough so as to never allow the spec to kill someone in three Cheap Shots, even with every CD up.
I don’t think that’s an unreasonable take, but I personally enjoy the idea of Sub specifically being a set up monster which in the right hands has the tool to checkmate multiple people at once.
It would sadden me to see Sub lose that identity, especially considering Assassination has existed since Legion to be the dribble gas pedal you to death with unhealable damage alternative to what (imo) Sub should be.
I just don’t believe that the Rogue toolkit needs rotational Cheap Shot to be strong, and if anything I see Shadow Dance’s current design to be a large impediment to Sub’s state in PvP.
To be fair, before Rogue’s gained Subterfuge, 2 vanishes and whatnot, we used to do this by Cheap Shot → Kidney Shot → Vanish → Cheap Shot. So its not like the current tools make Rogue’s do something they havnt been able to do for 20 years.
Yeah but in that scenario you’re committing Kidney and a Vanish. That’s a stark difference to just pressing your main go button and then full sending someone while still having Vanish and Kidney in your back pocket to control an off target.
Sub has been able to triple Cheap Shot people since WotLK. The difference is that in WotLK Energy was a resource that you thought about. Now you swim in it at all times because it makes for more compelling rotational gameplay, which isn’t inherently a bad thing, but the cracks show quickly when they somehow still have such easy access to a no CD low Energy cost stun.
You can’t even dodge the thing. That’s how long it’s been left untouched. That’s wild to me. Even Ferals have lost their undodgable stealth opener.
