RP Progression/Development?

Hi. How long do you think that it will take in order to achieve the sense of community, e.g. big events and many guilds walking around SW in Classic? Although I started in 2006 and only began RPing from 2014 onwards, I really enjoyed Argent Dawn’s activity and the popular events, for example the festivals in Darnassus. I can’t say what RP was like in many of the early xpacs, so how long would it take? I imagine RP is a lot more difficult since we don’t have transmog and gear acquisition will be a lot slower. Can I have your general thoughts? I just hope it isn’t months and months until there are people swarming Cathedral Square.

I imagine things won’t be heavy on the RP front for at least 2-3 weeks for people to get maxed out.

Hi there.

Like stated on a previous post, people are just settling in so it’s a bit difficult to make that kind of prediction. Also remember that AD was very heavily populated - specially Alliance side - making it very easy to find RP.
This server being new, can’t make a fair comparison.
Yes, there are lots of people coming to classic, but some are not going to stay for long, and others will probably use the RP server to avoid queues for now.

Regarding gear, you don’t need gear or level to RP. We didn’t have transmog in the past and we still RP’ed. Some of us would carry around an extra weapon of pieces of gear that matched, but that is not really what matters.

Well, you can RP at any time, but for big events to take place, guilds must be established first.

So far, most people I saw, were guildless.

That too!
Remember that guilds (were)are quite expensive compared to what we’re used to. And designing a tabard is not a priority to most.

Still plenty of casual RP to be held though!

I was thinking yesterday as I was running around Dun Morogh what a shame it is that we won’t have Brewfest in Classic, as it was a TBC addition.

So I was thinking I might see if anyone was interested in putting on Hydraxian Waterlords’ own version of Brewfest as an RP event - though as a 1-2 day event rather than a weeks-long festival, of course. Some time in October, perhaps?

I feel like that’s the kind of thing that would lend itself well to fostering a sense of community in the early days of the server.

I’d be totally up for it.
If we manage to pick a “safe” neutral area easy for everyone to reach we could get Horde and Alliance having drinks and cursing at eachother in different languages!

I was originally thinking of Ironforge and making it a bit more dwarf/alliance-focused, but a neutral event sounds really cool!

Booty Bay or Gadgetzan spring to mind, but both are much more difficult to reach in Classic than they are in BfA. Not really sure what a good neutral zone would be, really, but it’s worth thinking about for sure.

Get a thread going about this to get people aware, we might be lucky and find a couple of warlocks for summons.

Saw a player today in LFG, who did roleplay. He was quite nice, while looking for additional players. Not sure if he was successful, but I enjoyed reading along.

(I was too low, to join his adventure)

It will likely be months, yes. Small groups are doing their own RP, but most RP flourishes when large initiatives start solidifying. It’s been 3 days, people are leveling. It looks like a lot of people are keen on doing Classic PvP and getting involved with other factions, so there’s a lot to grind before Phase 2.

Yes, just like the general economy, the RP ‘‘economy’’ - for a lack of better words - needs time to establish itself.

Just give it a month or two until something bigger arrives on the scene. Let people level until the first wave of exhaustion arrives and the need for RP rises!

What a wonderful idea. It seems that in general there are already some plans for events popping up here and there. And this brings me to a question: is there some kind of calendar tool which got established over the years on the “old” realms where guilds and RP groups could add their events and players are able to get an overview what’s going on in the coming weeks?
(I was absent from WoW for approx 13 years and may have missed one or two things.)

When I was attending the Tea ceremony hosted by The Druids of the forest last sunday, I was thinking that we already have it.

How about southshore?
Okay maybe not super easy to reach. But imagine the horde and alliance getting drunk and dancing together.
“Meanwhile. On the RP servers.”

That’s a great idea

Back in the old days of Steamwheedle Cartel, I remember we had a sort-of farmer’s market in Hillsbrad, at the Hillsbrad Fields, a few times.

It’s a beautiful location for something like that - when it’s not under attack by Horde players trying to kill the farmers and the mayor for their quest, of course.

Already SO loving this idea!

Which I guess is currently about once a minute, considering that most players are on their way to still max out the first char?
But, yes… now that the Hillsbrad Fields are “back” (and no more Sludge Fields) that’s definitely a place to consider for something like that.
(But for someone below Lvl15 quite a challenge to reach I guess? …maybe I give it a try tonight )

Could be a problem with the local peasants and our horde drinking buddies.

Great now Im hyped about a crossfaction beer party to celebrate the opening of this server! Seriously someone needs to organize this thing!
And throw an ingame mail my way with a time and place!
Dont care how big a corpserun I have to do I’ll be there and Im bringing a “+1”!

It’s a pretty tough order to find a zone that both members of the Alliance and Horde can occupy without the risk of mobs. But no, the Hillsbrad Fields wouldn’t quite be a horde-friendly option.

Either you choose a neutral location - but those tend to be even harder to reach or populated - or you figure out if there’s a nice empty subzone somewhere, or one that’s only populated with ‘neutral’ mobs at best.

“Southshore” itself wouldn’t be a Horde friendly location either, but I’m sure there’s a place we could find nearby that doesn’t have patrolling guards or has mostly yellow mobs. Someone’ll have to scout Hillsbrad out.
