i recently created a character on ad to play on the side and now im afraid to do something wrong.

Ive been dipping my toes into RP on AD for a couple of months and tbh every RPer ive met has been great. Its a bit scary in case you do something wrong but even if you do no one bats an eyelid really.

I went to the argent tournament and had loads of fun (well until my puter crashed lol)

Just being respectful of others seems to be the biggest request and you can’t really “go wrong” then

There are times - random times sadly, so you can’t plan, it could strike anytime - when its horrible and you rather log out than torture yourself

Blizzard need to do something before AD falls and RP dies out.

The RP guilds and communites would survive such an extinction-level event…
But no AD RPer (or AD sympathiser from other server) would want to see it fall! We will do everything in our power to defend the last bastion

Hi there! Posting here to give feedback in regards to some things since Developers and GMs don’t read realm-specific forums as far as I know.

As someone who has been on quite a few of the Roleplay servers for years, on both US and EU there’s been some problems that have propped up more and more as time continues. Most notably after Cataclysm, when the ‘new’ report system was implemented, there’s clear lack of Roleplay server rules being enforced. This most notably includes Roleplay disruption/griefing, and non-RP names.

Non-RP names are not as big of an issue due to RP-addons allowing you to choose different names to show as long it’s not too off the wall, but it’s definitely appreciated if you try for a name that more fits the game lore more accurately; but it is still a rule.

RP disruption, RP griefing, and basically anti-RP hate is something we have to deal with on a daily basis on RP servers. There are people that roll on RP realms that have zero intention of RPing, or ever even trying to get into RPing but rolled there anyways. Quite a few of these people, actually dislike RP but want to take advantage of certain aspects of the realm like no sharding in old zones and better sales on Transmog items.

Some of these people disrupt RP, and are quite vocally anti-RP on a regular basis. They will go into an active Roleplay event or with people doing walk-up RP say in Stormwind and spam toys, block visuals with large mounts and pets, spam stuff in /say and so forth. Ignore only gets rid of 1 of those 3 things, and basically you end up forced to either try to ignore it and hope they go away, or move and hope they don’t follow.

The problem is that nothing is happening to people that are doing this, and it’s happening on a more consistent basis especially since particular streamers have taken to running events on RP servers with no intention of abiding by any of the RP server rules. In the past month, Argent Dawn has had major RP hubs completely lag out or crash from events like these 4 times. There was also major RP disruption, making it practically impossible to focus on a RP or to find someone to do walk-up RP with. People spamming slurs in every chat, and much, much more.

Despite it being against the rules to do so, the very same people continue to do it week after week with clearly no deterrent and no action taken. We’ve also had our forum threads basically brigaded with spam posts, off-topic stuff, and petty attacks or treating it like twitch chat for whichever streamer pointed them to the thread.

This had led to a lot of people from the RP community taking a stronger dislike and stance towards what we refer to as 'OOC’ers, which are people that at no point Roleplay which is one of the main purposes of a Roleplay realm.

The right click report system doesn’t appear to be doing it’s job, and often even tickets don’t appear to be doing anything as we’ve had people that consistently break these rules daily, some of which have been going for longer periods of time than others. It’s strange to know that as time goes on the rules are less-enforced, to the point that that they might as well not exist. More needs to be done, and reports should definitely matter on an account no matter if they’re a streamer or not.

People need to realize that setting up a Roleplay can take quite a bit of time, and you don’t know how long someone has been setting up a Roleplay or going through a Roleplay with people. A single Roleplay can go on for quite a few hours, and they often go for at least one or two. Disrupting for 10-20 minutes or longer, can definitely effect something that took hours of time and cause the Roleplay to take an abrubt ending because one or multiple parties don’t feel like being hassled while they’re trying to do something that’s a hobby.

TL;DR RP server rules are not being actively enforced, RP disruption occuring frequently especially with streamer events. Blizzard needs to take a look into actively enforcing such rules and making reports feel like they matter, currently it feels like reports do nothing to stop people.

And sadly you are being harsh and unfriendly towards them by reporting, ignoring and all. Instead of hating people, try to go along, follow them, disrupt them, etc.

Please fix roleplay realms. Give us a way to report people who are griefing RP at least. /ignore does nothing for the oversized mammoth sitting on your toon while you try and hold an event.
And please, for the love of everything that is holy, purge Goldshire. It’s the first place a new human goes to, you can’t avoid it with warmode as you are too low level. Hundreds of new players being confronted with people dancing on tables naked and emoting about their giant horse - I’ll stop. A lot of people come to the server and think that’s what RP is. Twelve year olds play this game, it’s hardly appropriate and is directly against the ToS.
Not to mention selling erotic roleplay on an external website for gold… That guild needs to be dealt with.
That along with ignoring certain streamers crashing the server and causing widespread griefing making RP impossible is the biggest “up yours” to roleplayers blizz has given yet.

Clearly you have never been a RP’er or have experienced how utterly annoying this is. Also it is quite easy to see when someone is OOC, IC, being a Veteran or New… or when someone is trolling.

Imagine you spending a lot of time planning a raid, and getting arrangements done for all roles of the raid, and meetingtime, flasks, food - the usual you know. And then when you come to the raid - you cannot enter, because a bunch of PvE haters decided that it would be fun to block the entrence with their wooly mammoths.

Now, lucky for you, that can not be done as you can just run through them, but think if you couldn’t. And if they wouldn’t leave, and eventually your guildies would grow tired and just leave the raid. All your efforts for nothing, because some rear-heads decided that this was fun.
You come and tell me then, that you would see if from their POV, and see them as maybe they are new raiders, who just haven’t learned how to dismount yet… Not really right?

On the topic of warmode and server bonuses, untill server hopping comes to an end etc etc there is no need (as far as im concerned.) to gut a small handful of servers for getting the buff the rest of the region is getting.

Untill Battle for Nazjatar is addressed theres no need to change how the WM bonus works unless you intend to remove it.

On the actual topic: The new / current system doesn’t really address many / if any reportable features, let alone the RP ones as it can go days or potentially nothing at all with people doing things which are suspendable etc. Its also a shame that im pretty sure the page which was there originally for RP realm policies isn’t even accessible iirc too.

I’m not sure why sparing some consideration for RPers and their realm(s) of choice is such a difficulty, nor why it starts to feel more and more like acknowledging us is done so reluctantly.
It’s not a big ask to maintain the integrity of one realm purpose versus the 40 others of a separate purpose, is it?

Being in Argent Dawn and seeing so many OOCers breaking the RP server rules and GMs not doing anything about it, feels like UK after lockdown is lightly lifted. Now there bunch of people walking around, breaking lockdown, ignoring the rules and the bobbies do nothing about it.

Regarding Argent Dawn and WM bonus, Blizzard should definitely address this issue.
As far as know bonuses were implemented when a Faction is outnumbered. Argent Dawn is a high populated Alliance realm, Alliance should not have WM bonuses.

Now, in my opinion there’s no reason to choose a RP realm if a player is not interested in RP.
I used to play on Argent Dawn, I wanted to RP but I did it occasionally.
I realized Argent Dawn didn’t provide what I was interested in so transferred my character to a pure PVE server.
When I was on Argent Dawn I met some PVE players, they didn’t find RP charming still they played on a Roleplay server.
I also met players with inadequate names (immersion breaking names if we want to call it like that) not respecting the server rules.

I think Blizzard at this point should take thing seriously and try to improve Argent Dawn delicate situation.

It’s quite ironic tbh.

If all the OOCers went to normal realms, Warmode would be more balanced to begin with in all honesty.

This is why sadly warmode wasn’t a bright idea.

Trying to have world pvp with benefits, which In turn cause one of the alliances most populated servers to be seperated entirely. While already imbalanced in the hordes favor was never going to go well.

This is making AD a safe haven for alliance which generates two issues.

• you have a bunch of non-rpers flooding the server aswell as new players being recommended the server constantly.

• normal realms are being imbalanced to almost alliance extinction. as warmode on players go to alliance.

It’s literally murdering WPVP by itself.

The easiest format realistically, is to have pvp enabled areas of the map at default and doing away with warmode entirely.

This impedes on several parts of the game negatively. It’s reaching a point where it’s going to eventually half the underpopulated faction

Leave the RPers to RP it’s really that simple.
