I personally wanted to join RPserver because the game would feel more alive, basically RPplayers would be the missing immersion that the game needs, in normal servers the cities are empty makes you realise it’s not a dynamic environment but rather city of the season type of game, it’s sad that normal players and RP players can’t coexist, i think in some way both communities need each other. I’ m no RP and don’t think i want to be, wouldn’t be fair to join a community just to improve my immersion, also i’m not sure how my goals as normal player would end up not aligning with RP player, for that reason mainly i stay away from RP servers.
It’s actually immersion-breaking to play on normal servers. Draenor-EU is such an example with people jumping around like monkeys in the city and the never-ending trade chat spam while AD still has one of the last true offtopic chats.
I get your point, it’s a fair one. But banning and etc is not the way to go. Yes if they in chat starts swearing and threatening - then no excuses. But try to counter play them, be more creative than reporting them. Mammoths disrupting - just find a place where they can’t mount. Also level up and gear up different faction characters, clear the house before RP (or during). Throw that toy thing on them that fills up inventory very very fast. Etc. Etc. Try to fight back.
Not an rper myself but i believe stormwind mage and dward district are very popular spots.
And for horde ogrimar the back area forget the name off the top of my head. Ive also consistantly seen a lot of rp in razor hill, dunno if thats still a thing tho.
Really tho the easiest way to start is to join a guild. When i was trying out rp for the first time with my friend i did an rp character interview, joined a guild and did a few eventa
Are you suggesting roleplayers should have cross-faction alts ready to snipe players only so that they can roleplay without disruption on a roleplay server?
Well if RPers somehow by a miracle would make blizz ban anyone who would get close to RP event with a mount, let’s just say it would backfire at first, and then also would make a precedent:
they just make some troll RP event near SW AH (gnomes mechashow 3000 workshop 2.0), and just chain report anyone flying by (and getting people banned). Cuz you know, they are RP’ing
if you ban people who doesn’t go along with RP in RP server, then everyone who doesn’t engage in pvp while warmode on should also be banned, because they are breaking pvp rules. You can think a lot of examples likes this.
I get your points and they are fair, but they are also very selfish and very self-centered without even thinking what consequences it might have on other aspects of the game. But ya, let’s just ban everyone without hearing out or trying to understand these “trolls”, and also endanger all other people who doesn’t go along with some rules in other servers/activities.
Argent dawn is my ally server. I dont RP myself, but the roleplayers make the game more alive. Like in stormwind, walking and talking on streets, sitting in inns. Very nice.
I don’t see the problem. On AD there are also mythic raiders. People have their events on times. It is just a pve-server, in that regard. As long as you respect everyone else and not go disturbing others, you can just do your WQ’s without talking/IC.
This exists (I don’t know to what extent in WoW since I’m fairly new to WoW RP) but in D&D this is called the “my guy syndrome”. In general, it’s not fun. It’s better to keep in mind that your RP is RP. When you do something, because your character would do it, but it’s not fun for others - don’t do it.
The goal is still for everyone to have a nice time. Don’t go frustrate others.
Have you read my recent topic in the AD-forums? Most people just fear of losing the “RP” on the RP-server because of how many non-RPer joined the server which resulted in people leaving their older RP-servers. AD is seen as the last true bastion for RPers and even this start to crack due people joining AD for the WM-bonus.
See, whilst we’d obviously love it if everyone on the realm -was- roleplaying, that sounds like the least contentious attitude to have, you realise that it is an RP realm, and that -you- are the one that should make the effort to not disrupt RP, the RP’ers shouldn’t have to make the effort themselves, as, well, like, RP realm…
Out of interest, and don’t take this as hostility, but why is it that you would play on an RP realm, and not Roleplay, as you say, you have a character, you are mindful of not ruining others immersion wherever possible, is there anything about RP that stops you joining in?
