I believe that the best stuff should come from the biggest challenge. (or at least commensurate challenge). There is a difference between “want” and “need”.
A player aspiring to high rankings in whatever “needs” good gear as a tool to achieve their goals. A rando on the internet “wants” bis gear because, who doesn’t?
Aren’t you confusing work with playing a video game? People work to earn a salary or profit, while they play games like World of Warcraft to relax.
“Need” is all about perspective. Some people need the best gear to comfortably clear +10 keys. Others need BIS gear to push higher numbers in Raid Finder or any form of raiding. And then there are players who need BIS gear to achieve high ranks in Mythic+.
I need it to join my friends in mythic raid. Raiding is why i play WoW mainly, and why i have the past 20 years. Been hooked since my first Blackrock spire raid.
Earning it is fine on my resto shaman. Cause i can pick cream of the cream of groups to join, so earning it does not come with too much hazzle and frustration.
I just did 4x +8 crest runs, all timed and total 3 deaths was total on all 4 runs. Mainly due to pally overaggro when he smashing his keys.
Went so smooth, and i earned 48 gilded crest within 1 hour 30 min timespan.
However, when i try my hunter. Which i want to gear up, cause that is what my guild needs. Not another healer. Then im faced with a wall, where i am not wanted.
And the groups i can join are the bottom of the pit. And i have to join them or sit in queue mini game all day. I spent 4 hours on hunter the other day, all i earned was 5 runed that i dont even need. I need gilded.
I can pug on my resto shaman, im the healer. I can fix peoples mistakes, have much more control. And im very wanted class/healer.
My hunter seems like he has the plague. No one wants him. And thus my frustration trying to gear him up and join my friends.
They have their own stuff to do. (Filling their vaults on alts, pushing high keys etc.
No they do not need me geared. Sea of people to take from as we have 4 raiding groups. However, ranged dps is one of the wanted spots atm.
We are a big guild with 4 raiding groups. People do not have time to baby others. People want Queen mythic killed. I am not vital to that.
Nor will i ever ask this of them to spend their time babying me cause blizzard fails at progress design.

Even if it is a matter of degree, you “want” gear so you can comfortably clear m10 keys. You don’t “need” it. Please don’t come here to get taught basic English concepts.

You got it there, thanks for taking the time to find it in the dictionary. So it’s great to see we both agree that either everyone or no one needs the myth gear. In that case, we can just hand out one piece a week for completing a few +8 or lower.
You can earn your gold medal by reaching a higher rating, with the same gear/tools as the average players, enjoy bragging rights, and feel good about it. Meanwhile, the rest of us can get a myth item every week without spending too much time on this video game, so we still have time for other important things in life.

There wasn’t mythic gear in M+ in DF either. What’s your point? I don’t get it. It was the same for me in DF, get all +20/+10 portals, stop playing. I consider that a good thing.
But how is this the game design’s fault. In your own admission, gearing is fine when doing it on a role that is in demand. So it’s not the reward structure that is the problem.

I want a fair and rewarding gearing path. Which we already have. Unfortunately that’s not what you want. We can only guess if the developers are agreeing with you, with me…
Game designer gave my hunter the damage, the CC, the survivability it has etc. The long CD on countershot etc. They made pretty much every other class superior.
This is all game design. Its not player issue that hunters are trash to bring compared to other classes.
Why bring me, when you can bring an enh shammy who has BL aswell. He can knockup with half my cooldown. Hes interupt is half my cooldown. He can aoe stun, i can only aoe stun if i displace the mobs. Something that makes tanks angry. Again on a much higher cooldown than the shaman.
All while dealing much less damage than the shaman.
How is this the players fault, that he doesnt want to bring the hunter. And incrase the likehood of failing the key and getting screwed by the system and get no rewards. And totaly just waste your time.
Ofc you are gonna wait for the enh shammy while you decline the hunter.
The purpose of gear is to slowly nerf content such that everyone has a chance to feel a sensation of “progression”. Its is not supposed to be a reward worthy of the word “earning”.
The only difference here is how fast can you acquire it. The fastest way to acquire it should always be the hardest content. But you should never exclude people from getting it.
You have other utility than a shaman. Feign Death is for example very OP. You do not take 3 shaman dps. You can’t compare what shaman has and what you do not have. You have stuff that the shaman doesn’t. It works both ways.
Feign death only dispels yourself. Does not help party at all.
Shaman can slap out a poison clense totem, who does the same as feign death but altso remove affixes/poison on ALL party members.
Sure you can take 3 shaman dps. But not the most efficient. Ele shaman is altso quite decent. All 3 shaman specs are quite meta. Enh more meta than anything else ofc.
Better to take an evoker to boost shaman dps even more than another shaman.
The group is made and formed around the Enh shaman. Disc priest so enh shaman gets PI etc. Evoker so the shaman does more damage.
Feign death isnt about dispelling yourself. You can completely ignore a lot of targetted mechanics or big dots (some make mobs recast on other people).
I have done all my highest keys since forever (Legion) with a hunter.
It is unfortunate you only want to look at the strengths of 1 class and do not want to look at those of others.

Hunters run 17’s. Somehow you think they aren’t good enough for 8’s?
Lucky for us no one is excluded. Alright, maybe players whom are only doing Delves, are in fact excluded. Not sure if we can introduce Myth track items for them in a balanced, fair way.
Myth-track gear is quite literally excluded from like 80% of the characters participating in M+? I mean, sure in theory they can do a 10…but they don’t.
If you run an M+ meta spec as hunter, like survival. You can defo do high keys. specially if you are in a guild group.
My hunter is for raiding, its Dark Ranger BM. And its stats does not allow for easy respec for M+
Like if i respec MM with my gear, i will have about same aoe dmg. But terrible single target dmg. Overall ill be much stronger for the spec ive geared for.
Indeed, you can avoid some targeted dmg with feign death. But shaman altso has stone bulkwark totem. So again, the shaman comes out way ontop even on survivability. They got 40% dmg decrease, vs hunters 30% dmg decrease. Hunters have 2 charges, but shaman has half the cooldown.
The the abilities hunters and shamans both have. The shaman has half the cooldown on it. Why? This makes them so superior.
Like when we do M+ groups rly fast, my trap is not up for every pack. Since it has 1 minute cooldown. While shamans aoe knockup is 30sec CD.
Even as resto shaman i aoe stun, aoe knockup and be menace. Barely have to heal when i CC the groups so much. I end up doing damage most of the run. Cause i have nothing to heal since the group is CC by shaman OPness.

Of course not. They get mythic gear if they go mythic raiding, just like dungeoneers get mythic gear if they go +10s.
