S1 will have low participation unless Blizzard implements the gearing system we had in Shadowlands. It will engage most of the PvP playerbase into being active throughout the season to get the strongest gear available. We saw how dead DF seasons were compared to SL seasons, people bailed out once they get 1.8k. We dont want them to quit that early since it directly makes a season deflate.
With each rank you achieve you get better gear, Gladiator is the highest ilvl gear available. Same as SL, the better rank the better gear just that Gladiator is new (SL had up to Elite).

We also need to have the elite or gladiator gear on par with PvE heroic gear so more PvE players feel the need to get the gear from PvP so they can just jump straight to mythic. This will make PvP season alive and inflated like in SL S1 and S2.
With this system we will see;
*Players wont quit right after they get their 1.8k mog
*PvE players will play PvP
*High participation
*Inflated season
*Easier to climb
I know the average PvPer didnt like it in Shadowlands, BUT… they still stayed and played hundreds and thousands of matches just to get better gear. I did it aswell. They complained a lot on the forum but still… kept playing and got addicted into getting the better ‘gear’. Dont you guys remember?
Your saying you have been posting here since BfA, but do you realize you also have to play the game to understand what this topic is about. You have been posting for quite some time but I dont know when you started to play the game. Maybe dragonflight?
i literally only play to get cool tmog, if a season has bad looking gear idc, next season the level of gear will be irrelevant and the grind starts again anyway. give the most popular classes cool gear and people will play.
You are right. But there needs more people to bring up this subject so we can get their attention and then things can be changed.

The last seasons have always been dead in every expansion because there is nothing left to do at the end of expansion. SL S1 & S2 was the most popular seasons ever since wotlk (data shows this) because players loved the gearing system, even PvErs came out of their dark dungeons to play some PvP…that should tell you something.
I havent done it since they removed SL gearing. My DPS is just useless and it wont change until they bring back SL gearing. For example look at disc priest if I meet one in wpvp or bg alone i’ll just accept my fate, stand still and die. I dont bother to do dmg since he outheals it, and he also does more dmg than me.
Youre right pve players played pvp however i’m pretty sure it was not cos they would love the gearing however cos pvp gear was bis/very good for pve progress. There were tons of people who hated PVP however had to play it cos of pve. I boosted tons of them so i know their reasons.
Sure blizz can bring that back. It was the best gold farm ever.

Yes SL gearing system made pvers play pvp and that made seasons inflate. They might say they hate it but in reality they really loved it. They wouldnt have played it if they hated it
95% of all players both pvpers and pvers loved the gearing system we had, they love it subconsciously. Slowly and surely I will help them be aware of what they long for When we have it that good we dont know what is good anymore so we start to complain for nothing. People here might say they hate it and dont want it back but inside their heart they really miss the superior system SL had.
And one more thing; Blizzard needs to implement a material for professions that can be only obtained from Ranked PvP and without that material you cant craft any gear, even PvE gear. It has to be soulbound. This way we can force PvErs and other plebs in ranked which will result in inflation in the brackets.
If participation is low it’s because:
the game is messy dampen fest
nothing ever dies
healers outheal your dmg. you press 5 gcd buttons while they have to press 1 gcd to outheal it.
no rewards after 1.8k. players insta quit.
everyone has the same boring gear
Idk if this is what the majority would want, I know the system for me and my friends just ended up with us playing up eachothers chars to 2.1 in 2s so we could blast on them in rbgs, so it kinda feels like it made arena worse since more often than not, you faced people with way higher gear than intended.
Cant comment on how the popularity of it compared to DF tho since im a ultra casual andy, but atleast all my friends agrees that the current gearing is way better for just blasting arena for those enjoying it
