Alright, I know this will ruffle some feathers but the Mage Tower Druid forms? What’s the point of gatekeeping the only cool Druid forms anymore?
Now, before anyone starts foaming at the mouth, let’s clear something up: this isn’t about wanting freebies. It’s not about “handouts,” “entitlement,” or any of those buzzwords that get tossed around whenever someone questions decade-old decisions. It’s about logic — and, dare I say, a little common sense.
Every single time this comes up, we get the same scripted response: “It’s prestigious!” “You had to be there!” Right. Because nothing says “prestige” like an achievement so old it could almost vote. You’re not guarding legacy — you’re just guarding nostalgia. At this point, it’s less about prestige and more about hoarding digital pixels like ancient relics in a museum nobody’s allowed to enter.
Let’s be honest: it wouldn’t hurt anyone to make them re-earnable in the retail mage tower, and here’s the thing; nobody’s asking to cheapen your achievement. You did it first, and that’ll never change. You’ll always have the original timestamp, the bragging rights, and the memory of bashing your head against Kruul at 3AM while your UI screamed in pain. We respect that grind. But locking away the form itself — the actual look — forever? That’s not preserving prestige. That’s just… stingy.
This isn’t about prestige anymore; it’s about pride. The forms aren’t symbols of effort, they’re just Blizzard’s version of a “Do Not Touch” sign. And the funniest part? Nobody would lose a thing if they came back. The players who earned them would still have done it first — they’d still be the OGs. They just wouldn’t be the only ones allowed to look good anymore.
And at this point, the only thing more ancient than those Mage Tower forms is Blizzard’s refusal to dust them off.
I wholeheartedly agree with you, OP. These forms are naught but another show of hoarding of cosmetics for the pure sake of not allowing others to have what you do. If anything, the original owners could have an golden version of those forms or a golden aura they can apply to them, to show they did it back in the day and have a little bit of specialness.
These topics aren’t about handouts, it’s about giving us the chance to earn them again. I, personally, would be fine even with recolors of the forms, that look fitting for a druid class, given the fel werebear does not really convey “Druid” much.
Then do not engage, if you do not enjoy these topics. I don’t get the logic behind even posting if you aren’t providing some counter-argument.
It’s a topic that’s been done to death at this point. There must have been a hundred threads across EU and US that keep bringing it up despite Blizzard [for better or worse] sticking to their guns.
They’re not bringing them back in the same way MoP CM gear didn’t. I think it’s time to let it go. Move on. Even after a bug made the topic resurface, their stance on it remains intact.
It’s not, people still fight for/against it, as long as there is sparks, there is fire. It will never be done, until it actually is.
Well they can still bring that back if they want to, if people are loud enough. Same as we got told we are not getting any classic servers, nor LFG tool in wotlk, but with enough outburts, they caved in. Who says they won’t do this now?
Those things aren’t really comparable. The outrage around the Mage Tower is a vocal minority with the discourse being had mostly on the forums and Wowhead. Most of the playerbase isn’t aware of it at all.
Classic and the desire for servers became a whole movement across social media that I can’t see this becoming.
One thing I’ll say is that if by some miracle they do bring back MT appearances other FOMO should return too.
In a way they are, but sure, what’s your standpoint then on the AOTC mount and Mythic Chosen dead deathless transmog?
Oh I do agree. But again, they have released tons of FOMO already, legendary cloak effect, Garros Heirlooms in mop remix, now it’s coming AOTC mount and the Mythic mog, also the 3x helms that was in ingame shop you got by watching twitch, same as old TCG items, and those TCG packs are out of production years ago, list goes on and on my friend.
The problem is they haven’t stuck to their guns. The rules are wishy washy at best. There is no clear line between what is and isn’t acceptable. As for hundreds of topics on it, doesn’t that kinda show you there’s a clear problem?
Yeah, I acknowledge that their philosophy here seems inconsistent. I don’t know either why they reintroduce a Curve mount and the Mythic transmog set but not the MT appearances.
This was not the case for MoP Remix where one could argue keeping CM transmog restricted made sense.
can’t care less about MT appearances, even if they add them as originals from back then still won’t even try to obtain them.
Those who want it should have a hard challenge again to obtain them.
Kind of, and no, you know there is many different color variations to the challenge mod sets that never made it into live, but still linger in the game files? Clicky clicky and more of these if you just do some googling.
Challenge mod can also be a simulated challenge, they have the patches laying, they have it all in data, to make a seperate game mode if they want, as the challenge mod had set ilvl, and you can bring back the challenge itself in it’s prime. Borrowed char, set ilvl, same talent, dungeons and challenge as it was originally.
edit: and then also, people use the argument of MT being solo challenge, while AOTC could be gold bought, well… same could the CM.
Yes, that’d be the only case where it’d make sense to bring them back. But I imagine there would be a huge disparity between the unreasonable levels of player power and to once again be brought back to set damage numbers for there to be a challenge.
Blizzard probably figured it was more trouble than it’s worth.
The prestigious argument always reeks of narcissism.
There prestige is that you did the challenge, and did it before others.
Not that the challenge was indefinitely removed to cater to someone ego. Especially when the challenge could have been preserved without that much difficulty.
Same goes for other “prestigious” items like pvp rewards, ahead of the curve. These should be using token models, where you get a token which lets you pick an item you want from new and old rewards.
I don’t see how it would become and issue or trouble tbh, as if it has set ilvl, power, and same patch rolling in a seperated gamemode, or a timewalking event, on a borrowed char. It’s all set in stone from there, and could be replicated without a hassle?
Is just zone into an instanced challenge, and there you are, back in it’s prime with the same old setup as before.
Seeing how fast and broken some classes were, and people 4 man boosted this as well, I don’t think there will be an issue at all. Only thing that is not logical, is how blizzard runs this FOMO stuff. It’s just… ridonkulous.
They already have those, at least for Vicious Saddles. Gladiator mounts and elite transmog sets won’t ever be brought back and I don’t think they should either. It’s okay for some FOMO to exist in MMOs. That’s just in line with the spirit of the genre.
i subeed just for the skins back in the game then after weekly reset… well had to cancel my sub and refund it…think we need to start a mass sub cancel protest for those who want them back in the game with the help with all social media will see how tough blizz will be then
