Oh, they agree that 226 PVE is vastly better than 197 PVP, they just don’t think it’s a problem because they are thinking of rated PVP first and foremost and there the comparison is 226 PVE to 226 PVP. When people bring up the issue of unrated PVP before them they also tend to say that it’s all fine because unrated PVP players should “just do rated”. Over time, when it becomes apparent that unrated BGs are in the trash can, they might change their tune. But for now they are too happy the rated PVP got better.
Also, in the interest of fairness, the exact math is slightly different than the simplified one I provided and there are adjustments both in favor of PVPers and PVEers. But the general picture is the same - 226 PVE is much better than 197 PVP.
I have to bring up a moba analogy here, as I’m into mobas and I just have to heavily shake my head just thinking about something like this happening in any moba.
Player A does competitive matches and is very good at it, achieving a high rating.
Player B casually plays this game too, queues up for a normal (unranked) match. Player A also queued up and is in the enemy team. Player A has a buff that states “All damage amplified by 30%”, because Player A also does competitive queues.
What is Player B supposed to do? Quit the game or accept painful, unequal games?
That’s how the PvP situation in WoW feels like, exactly like that. No place for non-rated players.
Now your just being stupid. You cannot disregard the gearing aspect of an MMORPG and after you’ve disregarded it, only then relate gameplay hahahaha. Best thing i have read in weeks, actually crying.
Read my first post, I explained why gear progression does not work in PVP without adustments. The title of this thread contains the proposed adjustment.
Don’t bother with the trolls, they can’t enjoy PvP unless they overgear opponents. With this change BG’s will be deserted in ~2months when most casuals get to BG’s and start meeting the Mythic+/Rated BG heroes who in spite of their obvious skill need numbers on their side too.
Have fun with 20 minute queues and tons of elitist afkers leeching honor to upgrade their gear.
I’m done readin your posts lad, they are not good for the pvp community hence why your ideas are not our reality. Imagine punishing the people who invest time into the game because some guy wants a slice of the action an hour or two a week, haha no, sorry, i’m done, these last few posts have got me giddy, im stopping, see you in the bg’s haha.
In terms of time, the gear differences will go roughly like this:
month 1 - fine, tolerable
month 2 - people who do M+ / raids / rated PVP get +10 ilvl avg compared to people who do random BGs (+14 at the end)
month 3 - +16 ilvl (+23 at the end)
month 4 - +22 ilvl (+28 at the end)
That’s rough ballpark figures.
Anything higher than +10 ilvl is pretty bad. Because the ilvl scale is logarithmic.
Especially now in the pre-patch you notice how much a certain ilvl-gap influences your performance. Atm you stand no chance against someone with 20 to 30 more ilvls, I have the feeling it won’t be any different in SL.
Overall better gear = better performance is fine. But as it looks now the gaps are simply too big.
Sadly this has been a trend in the past expansions, extreme ilvl and stat inflations. Partly due to the relatively big gaps between the brackets.
I have seen so many good people leave the game or just stop PVP’ing altogether because of the state of Battlegrounds. Games are very, very rarely any kind of contest, it’s either smash or be smashed and very rarely down to skill or strategy. Literally just form a group and outgear your opponent, making the game null and void and completely wasted as a game. Like an agonisingly poor game of top trumps.
